Chapter 14: Getting Acquainted

Julietta looked at Raine in surprise. He really looked as if he was serious. He wasn’t just joking around.

“So, you’re aware of really bad things that she did?” Julietta asked.

“Yes, unfortunately,” Raine replied.

“Was it to someone close to you?” Julietta asked again.

“It was personal, yes,” Raine replied. “At this point I can only say that it was rather catastrophic,” he added.

“I don’t want to run into her then,” Julietta remarked with a shudder. “I understand that you have friends around here and on the other side of the suburb?” she asked, changing the subject.

“Oh, yes, I have made a few new friends, but I’ve known the others from back where we all lived before,” Raine replied.

“That’s great,” Julietta responded. “At least, you’re not isolated socially. I thought you were entirely new here.”

“I wish I didn’t have that witch lady in common with anyone though,” Raine replied with a far-off look in his eyes.
