When the healer arrived, she immediately got to work. Not seeming to shy away from Leena even though she was human. She began by placing her hand on Leena’s head and closing her eyes.
Slowly, Leena’s body ceased its restlessness and her groans began to subside. The healer’s hands moved over the worst of the gashes. I watched as Leena’s wounds began to close beneath her touch.
Finally, the healer placed a hand on Leena’s sweaty forehead and then closed her eyes. I could see Leena begin to relax and breathe a lot easier as the pain left her body.
It was miraculous.
“Where did you learn to do that?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“All healers in our pack have the gift from their mothers. I’ve practiced since I was a little girl. I’m still just an apprentice. I’ve never used them like this. I never imagined having to use this gift on residents of the palace.”
“Your gift won’t work on Alpha Erich and the others that were poisoned?” I asked.
