Chapter 34: A Mother’s Love

“You don’t think Alpha Erich knows what to look for in a ‘true mate’?” I asked for clarification as I forced myself to unfreeze and face her obvious disapproval of me being with her son.

“I don’t believe my son has ever taken the time to understand the difference between love and desire.”

I realized that she was looking to get a strong reaction from me. So, I took a moment to think about what I would reply before doing so.

“I know you don’t like it that his Luna is a human. But, that is his choice, not yours. He is my Alpha and the father of my child, your grandchild. We are not the family you may have imagined, but we are the family that we need to be for each other.”

“That is a very sweet… sentiment,” she replied. “But you can’t expect that you have any idea what it takes to be the Luna of an entire pack. The White River pack has over one thousand members. Not human but shifters… How can you possibly be ready for that kind of responsibility?”
