Chapter 36: The Luna Festival

I should have taken a lot more rest in the days leading up to the festival. If I had considered that the White River shifters in general had more energy than humans and that my pregnancy was sapping more and more of my late day strength, I would have.

“You look ravishing,” Erich assured me as I stepped from the dressing room into the sitting room where he waited for me already dressed in pants and shirt of yellow and gold along with comfortable shoes with both colors.

“You look very handsome,” I returned the compliment even as I adjusted the yellow scarf around my neck.

Erich pulled me closer and gave me a kiss on the lips as he unfurled the scarf from my neck.

“Erich, I can’t stand the way people look…”

Before I could finish the sentence, I heard a click and watched as the collar fell into his open palm.

“Everyone will know you are their Luna. From this day forward, if they even so much as look at you wrong, they have me to contend with.”
