I enjoyed the wind whipping around me along with the variety of floral scents that flew by. He slowed down as he weaved through branches and bushes, until he reached a clearing that took in the moonbeams and framed the exploding fireworks in the distance.
He rolled over, gently tossing me from his back and onto the ground. Before I could get up, he stood over me. I ran my hands over his soft fur, truly unafraid of the animal above me. Slowly his fur began to recede as he shifted to human form.
“Are you alright?” he asked sincerely.
“Yes, I’m wonderful.”
“You were perfect today,” he said.
“So were you,” I replied.
I could just make out his smile before he landed a soft kiss on my lips.
His skin was hot beneath my touch and his pulse was strong against my hands.
