I opened my eyes to a still dark room. The silk curtains were drawn for both privacy and seclusion—the first one at Tyler’s wishes, the latter at mine. I spent the entire night tossing and turning, finding moments where I’d fall asleep, only to wake up and realize that not even an hour had passed since I closed my eyes. I picked up my phone off the charger and checked the time. Fantastic. It wasn’t even daybreak yet.
I groaned and tossed the phone on the bed beside me, pulling the comforter up to my shoulder and fixing my gaze on the end table directly in front of me. I had forced myself to bed well before midnight, eagerly pushing to pass the time by sleeping through most of the evening. Only, instead, a majority of it comprised of me staring blankly into the darkness, running through every possible outcome and scenario in my mind.
