Chapter 38: Keep Me Close

I stood in the middle of an abandoned room, with broken concreate slabs scattered around on the floor. It was dark, but both the moon and stars shone down through the open roof—well, where the roof would be if there was one. A cold breeze pushed past me, and I wrapped my arms around myself in hopes to build up some heat when I heard a rock clink against one of the walls behind me. I spun around, my hair hitting against the side of my face, and saw Tyler with his hands tied up behind him, being guided out of the shadows by…Isaak.

He had a pistol to Tyler’s head, forcing the barrel against his temple. Isaak locked eyes with me as Tyler squirmed in his hold.
