I followed Aubrey and Chandler through the courtroom halls, with my heels clicking on the marble flooring, keeping in beat with my racing heart. I watched as several people dressed in suits and skirts, carrying various documents, passed by us, only making the situation more real than it already was.
We had done this once before when Chandler gave his testimony, but now that it was Tyler’s turn, I wasn’t able to relax, fearful for almost everything: his speech, the questions they were going to ask, and more importantly, what the future held if Isaak’s expansion plans were true. Aubrey and Chandler’s voices blended together as they walked slightly ahead of me, discussing something about his impending future, and I found myself halting in the middle of the hall; the faces of the people around me becoming a blur.
