Dark Moon Meeting

That night...

Wolves chattered among themselves as if they had been friends years ago. Kilo hid in the bushes. He was not a pure pack wolf. And he was very unsure of what he should speak about. Owleyes sat down beside Kilo. Owleyes became friends with Kilo very quickly. "I don't know what to say," he barked. "Well, After everything we've been through, I would hesitate to speak as well," Owleyes barked back. Kilo stared at Owleyes in confusion. "Oh. I'm sorry. But, I can send Redtail to go up with you. He is a good speaker." "Thank you, Owleyes," said Kilo. Owleyes nodded, saying 'you're welcome', and trotted off.

[Meanwhile...]

Robinpaw looked around. She was bored out of her mind. But who is this? Robinpaw scoffed, then chuckled. 'Well, well, well. Looks like I've found myself a puny Leaf Pack apprentice.' Robinpaw pridefuly walked to the young wolf and sat. Strongpaw looked at her. "Hi, there," she said excitedly. "Leaf pup," Robinpaw began. Strongpaw jumped back, nearly offended. "I want to know, right now, how you and your weak and puny pack survived years living on baby prey and small left overs." "First of all," Strongpaw growled, "A wolf can survive on scraps, like you. And second of all, my pack is not puny, and definitely not weak." "Oh really," Robinpaw began taunting Strongpaw, "Show me pup. Show me that you're not weak." "Oh I'll show you," Strongpaw growled. Without hesitation, Strongpaw lounged towards Robinpaw. Robinpaw grabbed Strongpaw by the tail, and dragged her around in circles. Other apprentices came to watch the two fight. Their tails wagged and some began making guesses on who would win. "It's definitely Robinpaw," one barked, "Rumors say that she's one of the strongest apprentices in all of Fire Pack!" "I think it's Strongpaw," barked another, "she's very smart and strategic." Strongpaw yelped in pain, but she would not give up. Strongpaw turned, and bit down hard on Robinpaw's leg. Robinpaw let out a howl of pain. Other wolves became concered. Usually at most meetings, the apprentices would playfully challenge as if they were pups. Strongpaw growled deeply as she pinned Robinpaw's muzzle to the ground. "You stole my move," Robinpaw barked angrily. "Correction," said Strongpaw with a smug look, "that's my move." Robinpaw let out a scoff. "You have been spying on us!" Iceheart and Lilith, the closest wolves, pushed their way through the crowd of apprentices. "What are you two DOING," Lilith barked. "We have come here for a truce," Iceheart added, "This is a time of peace between packs! Not war!" Strongpaw turned to Robinpaw and pointed her paw. "It was her fault, Iceheart! She's the foolish one! She taunted me!" Robinpaw scoffed in offense. Lilith looked at Robinpaw in disappointment, then turned to Strongpaw. "Then it seems both of you are at fault," she barked, "Iceheart, this apprentice should have enough sense to not fight in such VIOLENT way when we come to these meetings!" "I agree," said Iceheart calmly, "And because of this, you will sit with her. And I will be watching you two." "As for you, Robinpaw," Lilith growled, "You will not be joining us in the next Dark Moon meeting. Instead, you will stay and take care of our elders and our queens." At that moment, Kelpfoot announced the beginning of the meeting. Lilith slithered through the huge crowd up to the high stones. "Come along you two," barked Iceheart Robinpaw bumped Strongpaw's flank, nearly causing her to lose her balance. "Hehehe."

"The Dark Moon meeting will begin. And I, Kelpfoot, alpha of Lake Pack, will volunteer to speak of news first. I would like to start off with wonderful news! My mate has given birth to her first litter!" wagging tails were seen around the clearing. Barks of joy and howls of praise were heard. Kelpfoot barked for silence. The crowd grew quiet. "But," he began, "I also come with sad news. Our greatest elder, our wisest...has joined Moon Pack." Murmurs rose from the crowd. Lake Pack, however, looked down with drooped ears. Strongpaw looked at Robinpaw, who was wiping a tear forming in her eye. "Softie," she teased. Robinpaw jerked her head away. "Hmph." Kelpfoot turned to Lilith. "Lilith, will you speak?" "Of course," Lilith barked. Lilith waited for Kelpfoot to sit in place before stepping forward to share. "We mourn two great wolves together good Kelpfoot. My mother, the former alpha of Fire Pack, has passed this morning. She was a caring alpha. She will forever be remembered." "Indeed, she will," Kelpfoot murmured to himself. "However," Lilith added, "we as a pack must move on. She is hunting with Moon Pack. " Murmurs of agreement rose from the crowd. Lilith stepped back then looked at Kilo and Redtail. "It's our turn," Redtail whispered. Kilo nodded walking forward with Redtail beside him. "Tonight I am speaking on behalf of our new alpha, Kilo," Redtail barked aloud, "We have also been mourning a great wolf. Beeflower. We had an attack from a pack of rogues. Their leader took over and made our pack suffer. Luckily, Fire Pack came. And they rescued us." Redtail turned to Lilith then said, "Leaf Pack owes you our thanks." "No worries. Hawk was never your fight anyways, young Redtail," Lilith said with an evil grin. Lilith gave a wave of her tail to signify that the meeting was over. Robinpaw waited for other wolves to split back up, before sniffing the familiar scent of Strongpaw's fur. Strongpaw leaned back. This was unexpected. "You smell familiar..." Robinpaw murmured. Strongpaw twitched her ears, listening closely. "It's like, it's like a scent that I've known when I was a pup. But if I could just remember when..." "Do you know Hawk," Strongpaw asked. "Of course," Robinpaw responded, "his high wolf was my mentor." "Which one?" "Tiger. Who was yours?" "The great tyrant himself. Every wolf said that he killed my sister. But I don't think so. I can feel it. She's alive!" Robinpaw sat for a.moment to take in all that she had heard. She had a sister too. "What's your name," she then asked. "My name is Strongpaw," Strongpaw replied, "and if you're wondering, my sister's name was Orchidpaw." Orchidpaw...Orchidpaw...Orchidpaw. That was her name. Robinpaw turned away as a single tear fell from her eye. She had found her sister.
