Chapter 9- You

Treasure ended up getting a detention for causing a scene and Ray had to wait for his parents to arrive and sign some papers concerning him being expelled.

Treasure was ushered into a deserted staff room by a teacher.

"Pick up every littered papers and put them in a box over there, then get a mop and make sure this place is spotless." The female teacher instructed and Treasure nodded with an 'alright.'

Shortly after, the teacher left the empty staff room all to Treasure, shutting the door behind her. Treasure huffed in annoyance and frustration.

Her mind was muddled up and it hurt her so much to know that her best friend didn't even care if she undergo detention.

What Pamela did to her will forever be tattooed in her heart. If Neil had been present when all these happened, what would he had done?

Treasure sat down on a high wooden stool with less dust on it and quietly sulked. Pamela knew her better than that...why then did she lie to her face? And she did it perfectly without showing any sign of guilt.

Hurtful tears fell out of her eyes, her heart clenched. Why would her best friend do this to her without even hearing her own part of story.

She sniffled and wiped the tears off her face and eyes with the back of her hand hastily. Someone gently knocked the door and opened it slowly before stepping into the room.

"Hope am not disturbing you?"

Treasure shook her head at his question, finally, the person she had long awaited was here. Ray leaned against the wall when he saw how dusty the place was.

"How do you feel right now Ray?"

Ray, who had let his eyes roam about the room in shock at the difficult work they gave her shifted his attention back to her.

"How I feel?"

Treasure nodded and Ray folded his arms and bit his lips hard as if to suppress his anger.

"How would you feel Treasure, when your parents put in a lot of effort to get you where you are today but instead you go behind their back and do something unexpected?" Treasure's eyes wavered slightly at the way he spoke. He was deeply hurt.

"I'm not as intelligent as you or Tom or any other person in our class...being rich is not everything Treasure....I had a lot of pressure on my mind so I decided to take that road in order not to disappoint my parents....but guess what? I forgot we had cameras around, s-so I decided to sneak in and delete the footage quickly....well, Pamela caught me and threatened to report me." Ray had a defeated smile when he paused.

"What did you do then?" Treasure probed him to talk, she wanted to know the whole story.

"I agreed to what she wanted me to do for her." He answered straightforwardly.

"I guess you couldn't do it and that's why she exposed you today." Treasure completed the remaining story. Ray nodded slowly. Treasure scrunched her eyebrows when something triggered her brain cells.

"What was it? The stuff she asked you to do?" Ray took his eyes off Treasure and focused them elsewhere, he knew if he should tell her she might not handle the information well.

"Is it so serious that you can't even tell me?"

"Yes...because its...its about you." Ray struggled but at least he finally let it off his chest, he didn't want to hide anything from her again...after all he was expelled and she won't be seeing him.

As expected, Treasure had a baffled expression. Her eyes held his, questioningly.

"Me?" Ray nodded and pushed himself away from the wall, he strode slowly and picked another wooden stool. He blew the dust particles away and carefully sat on it facing her.

"She envy you Tress, she acts all nice and caring around you...but behind, she's planning something...she wanted me to make you date me and then ruin your life so that she could gather evidence to show her late brother that you're not worth him. She didn't like the fact that her brother dated you...that's all I know Tress, I don't know the main reason why she's trying to destroy you."

Treasure's lips parted with arched eyebrows, her eyes held unshed tears. She couldn't even utter a word, she just stared at Ray.

Ray didn't know what to even say to her, sometimes he wasn't good at saying soothing words to people. Treasure slowly stood up from the high wooden stool and walked up to Ray. Ray just sat quietly watching her intently until she was close to him, standing in between his open legs.

The tears she tried to hold back finally flowed out and she hugged him, tightening him as she cried out loud.

It surprised and also pained Ray to see her in such state...first Neil's death and now Pamela's betrayal. It won't be easy for her to take it in just like that.

Ray carefully lifted his left hand and slowly placed it on her back before patting her gently. She gripped his shirt as if she was going to tear it, her voice echoed round the room loudly, she was in pains. The only person she trusted with everything including her life turned out to be someone who hated her with passion.

"Th-th-than-thank you...for...for not destroying m-my life...your...truly a caring...person."

Her weeping made it difficult for her statement to come out fluently. Ray nodded in understanding and she weeped a little longer but it did not ease the pain in her heart.

Breaking free, she sniffled deeply and wiped the tears off her eyes. Ray couldn't help but admire her and pity her at the same time, she really was a pretty young lady.

-----***-----

Was this how she would lose another friend?....a good friend for that matter. She realized today that to be friends with a fellow girl is 'good' but to be friends with a guy is 'great.'

Ray assisted her in cleaning the staff room, she couldn't even thank him enough, firstly he offered her his spare shirt and now he assisted her....what a friend!

His parents never showed up rather his uncle came to sign up the papers and take Ray home. A good thing about the school was that they never accepted bribery and treated everyone equal...whether rich or poor.

At least she said her goodbyes to him when they were done cleaning on time before his uncle arrived. Though Ray wanted to wait for her so they could go home together...but his uncle blatantly refused.

Treasure didn't even bother attending classes, school no longer interested her ever since Neil died and with what Pamela did to she and Ray contributed.

Treasure sat in the quiet staff room they tidied together, her phone had been taken away from her so she couldn't call or chat up anyone.

The bell rang for recess and Treasure came out, her phone was handed back to her and she sluggishly went to the cafeteria.

As she predicted, everyone glared at her, some with disgust. Only few stared at her with pity. The ones glaring took photos of her again.

Treasure took a tray filled with snacks and went to a corner without the care of the world. Treasure ate silently on her own.

She would be lying if she said 'she wouldn't search for Pamela,' because that was exactly what she did with her eyes.

BOOM!

Their eyes met and Pamela smirked before raising a middle finger at her.

WHAT!

Treasure's eyes burned further, she thought she could handle this betrayal but look at her! Already about to shed tears. Treasure you're a total mess!
