The Black Owls

It was clear that Duke Verigold lied to us. Alexia, his daughter, subtly pointed out the truth that his father had connections with Vector Tarte that made me all curious. The Man of Gold didn't have a choice but to spill lies, being a duke and all. One wrong move and the truth came out, the Knight Apostle would come for his life.

It was then I wondered how we should reapproach him. I knew one thing for sure.

"We need to speak with him in complete private."

"Yeah," Tia nodded. "He should be more comfortable discussing sensitive stuff like that when there's not a single soul around except us."

"Sorry to say, but I think you might need to step away as well, Tia."

"Eh? Why?"

"I mean, you're an adventurer. Whatever tasks you have done you will report it to the guild later, right?"

"Well, that's true…"

"From the events in Batustone, I am sure that he might think of the adventurers as a big no to reveal whatever truth he hides."
