33. A Twist: The Other Woman

Eve’s phone rang. She looked at it and saw that the caller was Troy. Her hand itched to answer his call.

She let it ring. It stopped ringing. She cleared the missed call and put his number on the blocked addresses list. 

He called again. Before she had a chance to answer the phone cut off the call. She sighed. 

Her heart ached, her throat ached, her eyes watered, and her mouth trembled. She looked around the room hurriedly putting objects into focus before she lost control and began crying.

She took a shaky deep breath, then another, and then another. Her thoughts went back to a few days ago when she saw him at his parents’ house.

His mother had complained about not seeing her grandchildren, so they passed by after school. Troy had arrived minutes later and had demanded to have the boys over for a while now that they had closed school. 

Eve had refused. She closed her eyes trying to stop her mind from replaying the events of that day. The scene continued to play.
