Eve woke up; she was in the hospital. The same one she had been in when she found out she was pregnant. The nurse noted she was up and noted the wild-eyed look the patient had as she looked around. They didn't pay her enough to deal with the crazy ones. 


"Nurse would you please ask my husband to come to see me?" Eve asked in a throaty voice. She cleared her throat. 


The nurse looked at Eve as if she were a leper. Eve asked for Reginald by name. The nurse tutted and left. 


A few minutes later Dr. Kugara came in to check on her. He asked the usual battery of questions and then left. 


Seconds after the doctor left, Reginald walked in looking haggard. His hair looked like he'd run his hand through it half a million times. 


"Hey, Sweetheart," he spoke softly and kissed her cheek. 


"Hi." Her voice came out cracked and she cleared her throat again.
