BLEAK

Breakfast was bleak as non of them wanted to ruin what they had. Vincenzo was focused on his paper and Anna was busy with her iPad going through her school timetable.

She had not thought of how it was going to be with her going to school and working at the same time. Vincenzo had told her to just quit but she wasn't going to do that.

She could handle both of them she just needed to push herself.

He wanted to talk to her about the baby but he didn't know how the conversation would end. It had ended pretty badly the day before and he did not want a repetition of it again.

As they say there in silence they were both in deep thought but only one of them was thinking of the other

It's like suddenly Anna had found something else to obsess over and she was forgetting that Vincenzo even existed.

"Are you enjoying your breakfast ?", he asked her and she looked up.

She wanted to laugh and tell him that he was trying too much. She couldn't tell him that though so she answered with a smile on her face.

"Yeah but I don't quite like these pancakes who made them ?", she asked him.

She knew he had made breakfast and she just laughed as she watched his face morph into that of disappointment.

"I didn't know how to make them so I just watched a clip of someone teaching people to cook.

"Am kidding they taste amazing ", she did and the conversation ended like that.

Anna reminisced about her and Dylan making pancakes. She smiled when she remembered the thought and Vincenzo was beside himself wondering what it was that was making her smile that much

Vincenzo and Dylan were two different people she couldn't even compare them.

Dylan was this sweet guy who made her smile all the time. Every time she thought of him she smiled remembering all the things stay theyhdoneone together.

When she was with him there was nothing that was forced. She felt like herself when she was at his place.

She giggled all the time no matter how stupid whatever he said was. He could tell when she was not okay and tried as much as possible to feel safe to talk about it.

They could talk about the most random thing and she would still be smiling. He tried to do the things that she loved without making her look stupid.

She was too far ashamed to accept the fact that she liked him.

What she felt for him was different compared to what she felt for Vincenzo.

With Vincenzo nothing was easy. It's like she was always waiting for him to do something.

She never felt like herself when she was with him. She forced herself to do things that she didn't like hoping that he would notice her.

When she wasn't around she was a mess same as when he was around. There was no difference between the two because she would beg for attention on both accounts.

She begged to be loved by him but he somehow didn't know how to do it. It seemed like they were forcing each other to be together but she didn't want to let go.

There was excitement when it came to Vincenzo because the moments that he showed her he cared were so good.

They were the moments that she didn't want to end. If it was possible she could just freeze time so that they could be stuck there.

Be stuck in a timeline where he made her happy because all the other days were bleak. There was no happiness in the rest of the days with him.

She didn't know what it was that she felt for him. Was it love or obsession?

She didn't know what like ttoiletloved by someone. She didn't know if it was full of happiness and also hurt at the same time but assumed that love hurts too.

She wanted to tell Vincenzo to try to fix whatever they had but then she realized they had nothing. Their marriage was a sham that was supposed to help both of them but she had caught feelings for him.

She was never supposed to buy she had assumed it and went in ahead to do so. That was where the problem was.

She was his wife but she was not the woman he came home to every evening to complain about work. She was not the woman who she was going to be seated with on their porch for fifty years to come reminiscing about their life before that moment.

How she wanted to be that woman so bad. All of it was a dream that was never going to come true.

She needed to let go of him because she was being immature and expecting things that she was never going to get from him.

She should have done her research before agreeing to marry him but she never really had much time did she?

Her decision wouldn't have changed but maybe she wouldn't have been hurt the way she was. She would have expected it and tried as much as possible not to put herself in the situations that she had put herself in.

"I shouldn't have been pissed at you when I found out that Briana was pregnant by you. It's not my place to question things like that ", she said as she looked at him.

"I know what this is, a marriage that was supposed to benefit the both of us so I won't let my feelings interfere with that. I didn't appreciate hearing it from her though you were the one who was supposed to tell me ", she said looking defeated.

He didn't know if she meant whatever she was saying because he was finding it hard figuring what emotions she was going through on her face.

"I don't like being taken as a fool and mostly by the women that you sleep with so the next time you do something like this tell me first", she said as she stood up and left.

He was not the bad guy in her story, she was.
