Chapter 32: Tea Time Tensions

I left Cora in the next room, going to find Matthias to see his side of the situation. I found him in his room with Cyrus, crying his eyes out as he sat on the floor. I shared a silent look to Cyrus; he nodded towards me and left the room—possibly to distract Alois. I entered Matthias’ room and gently sat with him, pulling him close to me to rest his head against my shoulder.

“Am I not good enough..?” He whimpered softly, trying his best to stop crying. I reached behind me and grabbed a pillow, gently handing it to him for him to hold. Matthias had been the only one I’d consider an actual brother with how different he treated me from Cora and Cyrus.

I gently shushed him as I held him, rocking him gently. “No, you’re perfect,” I assured him, “anyone would be lucky to have you as their mate—male, female, or otherwise.” I gently rubbed his back as we sat together. I didn’t want to leave him alone during this moment.
