I watched over the house as people moved in and out. A couple of stewards escorted my uncle, Cora, and Cyrus out of the house. Cyrus stopped me before he stepped into the courtyard. I turned to him, curious as to what he had to say since he treated me the worst second to Cora.


“The only way I’ll allow you to come back is for Matthias’ sake. Besides all that you can forget about staying in the house.” I started walking towards the kitchen. I heard Cyrus rushing behind me. I was sure that Cyrus had been mean to me under Cora’s influence, despite that, I could forgive him for his actions towards me.


Cyrus nodded, stopping me from walking with a hand on my shoulder. “I know I haven’t been great to you. But please, take care of Matthias,” he requested. I took a breath, holding back my frustration before I turned around to focus on him. He looked tired. Cyrus and Matthias were only twenty-three, but the dark circles under Cyrus’ eyes made him look older.
