My big day was much closer than I thought. Ten hours to my wedding and I could not catch any sleep. I kept tossing in bed thinking about the wedding and everything. Tomorrow, a new name would be added to my name. I would be addressed as Ndale Abasi - Hoshama. I would be sharing a bed with someone I know little about and serving him for the rest of my life. I yearned for my mother's sweet voice then I remembered that Yah said he is my mother too. I called on Yah in my heart cause that's where he said he was and had internal peace. A while later, Javan called.
Ndale: Javan?
Javan: Did I wake you up?
Ndale: No I could not catch any sleep.
Javan: Same, do not worry my queen, I've got your back.
He sang me to sleep.
Lovely. We had not met each other after the night of the proposal and I somewhat missed him. I slept like a baby and woke up at 7:00am. I had only three hours to get ready. Leah helped me get dressed and did my makeup. I wore the gown my father had chosen. It turned out to be mum's idea. My father told me that my mother designed it when I was eighteen and I was elated cause I could feel her love. I wore beautiful glass slippers and my diamond necklace to match. My attire was a V-neck diamond and white gown with a soft and comfortable veil which settled down to my feet from behind; it had beautiful diamond butterflies at the bottom. I had a bouquet of purple and white tulip flowers. The wedding was a success and memorable. I danced at my reception happily in memory of my mother; For she said to me ''my princess you'll only have one true wedding in your lifetime so no matter who you marry dance gracefully at your wedding. You'll make me proud and I'll come and join you on the dance floor." Well she was not there physically but she sent a beautiful butterfly, oh how my mother loved butterflies. I was glad.
After the entire ceremony, I rode with Javan home. Javan's house was a long drive from the palace. I was so exhausted and slept all the way home on Javan's lap. He carried me to our room and helped me change. We took a bath together but I was literally sleeping. Javan woke up early and prepared breakfast. He came in, woke me up and served the meal. I greeted him with smile feeling a bit embarrassed.
Ndale: Good morning
He kissed me, I was all his now.
Javan: Now that is how it is done. I will be teaching you a lot.
I smiled and he fed me; we actually ate together.
Ndale: Wow! This is good. Did you prepare it?
Javan: Yes
I chuckled.
Javan: Seriously, I made it.
Ndale: Wow! You're a good cook then.
Javan: Thank you.
Ndale: I am sorry, I should have been the one doing the serving.
Javan: No it is no big deal. You were really exhausted yesterday and I enjoy cooking.
Ndale: Interesting.
Javan: And you looked so peaceful.
I simpered.
Javan: You looked like a baby.
He teased.
Ndale: No way, I am a big girl.
Javan laughed at me. He looked so handsome. Goodness! After staring at each other for a while I got lost in my imagination but was brought back to reality by the snap of his fingers.
Ndale: Sorry.
He left with the dishes laughing all the way out and asked me to freshen up. I straightened the sheets, took my bath and dressed up beautifully. Javan walked in just when I was all dressed up.
Javan: You look amazing, Babe. Come here.
He hugged and kissed me.
Ndale: Thank you.
Javan: I will be showing you around today even starting now.
His house was huge, well organized and beautifully decorated. I was impressed. He had three househelps and a nanny. He explained that his nanny had raised him. She was Chloe Alvares; a very jovial old lady who was really nice to me. The last place we went to was his study where we sat to talk; it was cozy. My favorite part of the house was the garden.
Ndale: Your house is beautiful.
Javan: It is our house, our home and soon we would have our babies running around.
I chuckled at the thought of being a mother.
Javan: Please take your seat. We have a lot to talk about. But first take your medicines.
Ndale: I do not need them anymore. I am doing just fine.
Javan: I don't think you should stop now. Please take your medicines.
Ndale: I don't want to. They are so bitter and make me feel drowsy.
Javan: Please listen to me.
Ndale: No
Javan: Take your medicines now!
He ordered with his terrifying, stern look. I quickly gulped down a lot of water, swallowed the pills and drank the liquid one. He offered me a candy which I took with much reluctance.
Javan: Good girl, relax okay.
I stared at my feet and fidgited with my fingers. He walked up to me, sat on the table and lifted my head. The stern look.
Javan: Look I will not hurt you, I just want you to be healthy. Please don't take it the wrong way.
Ndale: I get scared when you make this face.
Javan: Oh I get it now.
He laughed
Javan: Okay, let's get to know each other more; and about that look I will try to work on it.
I simpered.
Javan: I am Javan Terry Hoshama, twenty five year old. Tell me about yourself Mrs. Hoshama.
Ndale: Ndale Abasi is my name...
Javan: Your maiden name
Ndale: Yeah! I am twenty and would be a year older in July. Music keeps me calm. I am a philokalist. I am quite emotional. I am a kind, caring and humble person; thanks to my mother's good upbringing. I love tulips and purple is my most preferred color. I like to dance a lot. I am a brave person. That is all I guess and oh yes I do not like medicines; I hate them.
He chuckled.
Javan: Interesting! Can you dance for me?
Ndale: Now?
Javan: Yes
Ndale: But I danced at the wedding.
Javan: We both danced.
NNdale: And I always dance at the Ziv ball.
Javan: Not everyone attends the ball.
Ndale: Really, wow! I thought it was mandatory.
Javan: Not at all.
Ndale: How?
Javan: It actually is compulsory but not for people like me.
Ndale: Ohhh okay
Javan: Dance please
Ndale: Music?
He played a nice hip pop song and I could not help but dance. He joined me but was a terrible dancer. I stopped, watched him dance and laughed.
Javan: What?
Ndale: You dance terribly.
I laughed.
Javan: You just have to teach me.
Ndale: Okay! Watch and learn.
It was fun and we were both enjoying the moment; I just had to spoil the it. I felt dizzy. There were two Javans then I clutched his arm.
Javan: Are you okay?
I wagged my head.
Javan: What do you need?
Ndale: Water.
Javan: Okay, just sit and wait for me.
I placed my head on the table and waited. I drank the entire glass of water but still felt dizzy.
Javan: You need to rest. Let's go.
He carried me to our room and laid me down gently. I slept after a short while. Thank Yah that I had to take my medicines only once a day. I woke up at about four in the evening took a bath and walked to the kitchen; for my stomach was rumbling. I rarely cooked but I could cook. I tried to prepare something simple and cut my finger in the process; I let out a loud cry. Chloe came rushing to the kitchen. She comforted me and treated the wound. She said that if I needed anything all I had to do was to inform her and everything would be sorted out. Dinner was already served and Javan was waiting for me. Thankfully he did not hear the scream however, he noticed the plaster on my finger while I was passing him the pepper sauce; surprisingly he said nothing. What a relief. Seconds, after I was done with my food, he took a grip of my arm and pulled me to the room.
Javan: What happened to your finger?
Ndale: So is that why you dragged me here?
Javan: Yes, now answer my question.
Ndale: It's just a cut.
Javan: How did it happen?
Ndale: I was just trying fix myself something to eat. I was really hungry and did not know dinner had already been served. Please don't scold Chloe, she came to my rescue immediately she heard my scream.
Javan: Alright but is it hurting?
Ndale: Just a little.
He hugged me and kissed my finger.
Javan: Sorry, next time just tell Chloe what you want. Well I might rather be scolded. You don't need to do anything; no chores, nothing, okay! Just relax and be the lady of our house. You're in charge now. You can do anything you want but make sure you do not hurt yourself.
Ndale: Yes sir.
Javan: Not sir, you can say honey, hubby, sweetheart or something.
I chuckled.
Ndale: You're a nice person. I always thought ... nevermind
Javan: Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Ndale: Can I be taking care of the garden at least?
Javan: Sure, but nothing more than that darling.
Ndale: I would like to be visiting the tech school, I still have some unfinished business to take care off.
Javan: Well
Ndale: Please don't say it is too far and I miss my family too.
Javan: It has just been a day.
Ndale: Yes but..
Javan: You are married now and I can't have you going out. You are mine alone.
Ndale: My lord please
Javan: Come and sit; please don't call me 'lord'
Ndale: Terry please at least permit me to complete my project.
He smirked.
Javan: Say my name again.
I laughed.
Ndale: Terry, you promised to make me happy and I will not be happy staying away from Jade and Dad for a long time.
Javan: Okay! With all things being equal, I will take you there twice a month.
Ndale: I can take care of myself.
Javan: Really, look at your finger.
Ndale: Oh please, it is not so much of a big deal. I can go on my own; I am a big girl.
Javan: If I do not go you won't either.
Ndale: Fine, you can take me there.
I rolled my eyes at him and he chuckled.
Javan: I see you like Terry
I smiled.
Ndale: Why me?
Javan: I do not get your question.
Ndale: Why did you choose to marry me?
Javan: It was my father's last wish before he passed away.
Nadle: So you do not love me.
Javan: I do.
Ndale: I see.
I was not pleased with his response because I was beginning to like him.
Javan: Listen, I actually love you. I fell in love with you the very first day we met.
Ndale: Was it when I was sick?
Javan: No we first met in school; you were about fifteen. I was nineteen then and was asked to take your class for a day because your teacher was unavailable. You were my best student. I already knew you were to be my wife at the time.
Ndael: Wow! I don't quite remember.I always thought you were a stern looking, mean rich guy.
Javan: I know but you're totally wrong; I am not mean just strict.
Ndale: Hmmm
Javan: What is on your mind?
Ndale: What do you think of the world outside Zangula?
Javan: Ohhh! Well I could take you there so you see things for yourself.
My face beamed.
Ndale: Are you serious? But I heard any one who left Zangula died.
Javan: That is a big lie. I have lived there for close to four years.
Ndale: Wow! I never believed that myth until after the comma.
Javan: I will take you around the world.
Ndale: Yesss! Wooooo!
I exclaimed, bounced and danced happily on the bed. Javan stood staring at me. The moment I noticed his stern look, I got off the bed and straightened it.
Ndale: Sorry
Javan: I will certainly make you dance to my music tonight.
Ndale: Oh please, I didn't mean to...
Javan placed his finger on my lips and I kept quiet.
Javan: You are such a child.
Ndale: Nooo
I did my happy dance and hugged him; I was thankful. He held my hand, walked to the switch and turned off the lights; began singing. We danced the Waltz dance. After dancing for a while he slowly took off my clothes and made love to me.
