CHAPTER 45

It didn’t take long for the sound to travel across the Demkil Kingdom; as soon as the first bell was successfully rung, the bell towers within range followed suit, and the resounding tolls alarming danger slowly but surely reached Demkil’s capital within a day. Meanwhile, the cities and villages along the way were evacuated, though the sense of urgency seemed to wane from the smaller towns and villages to the bigger cities. Within the former, there were mostly people who were used to leaving everything behind at the drop of a hat and starting all over in a different location, but within the latter there were those who had spent their entire lives building up to whatever meager possessions they had, be it their land or their other properties. Of course, once they were made aware of the magnitude of the situation, the urgency that escaped them previously came back around, accompanied with the fact that their lives were indeed more important than their possessions.
