Chapter thirty nine

Owen oversped and the police chased him down and he had to pay a fine. The policeman had him do a breather test to check if he had driven under the influence of alcohol. The test turned out negative as he'd taken only a light cocktail at the bar. He got home and knowing his sister was asleep, he just stayed outside cause a little noise would wake her up. He stood at the terrace staring at the night sky and getting lost in the quietness of the night. He just stayed there lost In his thoughts. Standing for long his legs got tired and he had to go inside and rest.

"When are you going back home ?" Trevor called to ask as he was out of the country for work and Josh had just flown to New York.

"I don't know yet. I'm helping Monneteni " Josh replied as he was assisting Montenni in getting ready for his fashion show. A new date had been set for the fashion show that was postponed.

"He doesn't Josh. That guy has millions of people to call for assistance . " Trevor said

"I'm here cause I want to be" Josh replied. " What's the problem this time now" Josh asked getting pissed.

"I have no problem Josh. I just don't want you being so close to him while I'm away"

"Kill those insecurities...he's just my good friend"

"I know that...."

"No buts Trevor. Just trust me and put your mind at ease"

"Hmmm.." Trevor breathed.

"Yeah you need to breathe...I'll talk to you later. Bye"

"It's been six months now and I haven't heard from Jake wonder how he's doing in China. I kinda miss him and now he's more active on Instagram taking pics on his outings and he's mostly on his own, maybe he hasn't met the Chinese guy yet. On his page he openly expressed being a part of the gay community. Does he still think about me....he hurt me and I miss him more I don't even date anymore as Jake scarred me branded me as his and now I stalk him with a fake account after blocking him with my main one. Miss our days of love but what truth was in those love....lies hovered everywhere." Owen thought as he stared at a new pic Jake posted. Jakes hair had grown long framing his handsome face.

Owen was now done with his project work for school and was waiting for graduation. These days him and Davis were hanging out more than usual.

"Will you be my boyfriend?" Davis had asked one evening when they were viewing the city from the company rooftop.

Owen was taken aback by Davis's proposal.

"I don't know how to process that...let's just be friends" Owen managed to reply.

"But you're single...he's not here anymore " Davis pressed.

"I know but I don't see you romantically"

"Why ?...do you still love him?"

"Come on Davis let's not ruin this beautiful friendship of ours"

"It can be better Owen. I'll be good to you I swear it"

"I've gotta go now. We'll talk later" Owen said and backed off from Davis.

"Please don't leave. Just give me a chance"

"I'm sorry" Owen said and he left. He thought he and Davis had passed that stage. Thought the crush had died, why did love come in now. He knew he could never reciprocate Davis's feelings. Earlier he had finished his work but went up to chill with Davis.

Jake finished his training six months later. Extra activities had extended his time. He couldn't wait to fly back home to everyone.

Jules was now pregnant and Hamps was on the sea. Jules nagged him instead of her husband and he felt bad for not being phsically there with her, but the naggging she gave him balanced that guilt.

Jake flew back to San Francisco without letting anyone know. He went to Rome's house as the wife had given birth to a boy.

"He's so cute" Jake fawned.

"Yeah...looks just like you" Rome said.

"What's his name?" Jake asked

"Andrew" Rome's wife said.

"That's a cute name" Jake said touching the sleeping baby's cheek. "Has dad seen him"

"Yeah we did a video call to him"

"Oh...so he hasn't been..."

The door flung open and Jake knew there was only one person he knew that did that.

Their father !

He stepped in and there was a smile on his face as Sandra rushed to hug him. He lifted her up and kissed her in both cheeks. This was the first time Jake saw his dad being affectionate.

Jake handed the baby to the mother and she placed him back on the bed.

"I'll leave now...I sent something from China for Andrew but it'll take a while to get here" Jake said to her. He'd ordered a trolley for the baby.

"Thanks but you don't have to leave now. You just got here and haven't even sat a while"

"I'd rather leave I don't wanna be around him" Jake said.

As he walked towards his dad to get to the door their eyes met for a brief moment.

"So you won't say hello to me " his father said. Jake's hand was already at the door knob, he refused to turn and look at the mans face.

"Hello Jeffrey Hudson" Jake said, opened the door and out he went.

"Don't be like that my princess" The father said to Sandra who was still in his hands.

"Dad when are you fixing things up with Jake "

"There's nothing to fix"

"Dad !"

"He disowned me and made me lose the election too. He's not even sorry and you expect me to reach out ?"

"Don't be so petty dad. You're the bigger person here...for crying out loud he's your son"

"I know but I only ever wanted one child right from the start. Not two, he's just always disappointed me"

"He's still your son whether you wanted one child or not" Rome's wife said.

Jake drove to Jules's new house. It was closer to his than her former one.

Jules cried she saw him and hugged him with her protruding belly.

"See what Hamps did to me" she said after releasing him and Jake laughed. "It's so cool to see you this happy Jake...I missed you and at this point I need your food. It's either you're moving in with me or I'm following you home " she said seriously.

"I missed you my sweetheart but I'm not your husband so you're not following me home neither am I staying...I'm famished what did you make"

"You think I'd cook in this condition. There's some food in the fridge though...there's this ice cream shop downtown lets stroll there" Jules suggested.

"You don't even care about my jet lag and the fact that I'm hungry...I'll just do this for my god baby not you....is it a boy or girl?" Jake said.

"I'd rather not know but the suspense is killing me" Jules whined.

Jake laughed and sat on the sofa as she was t making a move to lead for the ice cream.

"Have you met him ?" Jules asked.

"I just got here from Rome's. They have a beautiful boy" Jake shared with a smile.

"Oh...congratulations to them"

"I wondered how it will feel to hold mine" Jake said.

"It will be so awesome. The baby will look like you and your mom" Jules said.

"Yeah...that'll be great" Jake smiled picturing his future child. He was turning twenty eight next week so he felt it was time to have a child. He would find a surrogate mother. "I haven't met him though are you sure he isn't dating ?"

"I doubt that. Chico tells me he still comes by with his usual friends"

"Hmmm.."

"Okay...your birthday is next week right ?"

"Yeah and I'm going on a trip with my brother's family "

"That's good...I need a trip too. Wonder who's be kind enough to let me tag along" Jules sneakily said.

"You can come if you want"

"Yay" she jeered, shaking in the chair.

"Chill Jules be careful"

"Oh you're so sweet, can't you move in with me I'll ask Hamps and I'm sure he'll accept it"

"So you'll ask me to cook bananas In the middle of the night"

"I don't have such bizarre cravings"

"Where's your help though"

"She went to the supermarket "

"Oh...ok"

"Please be a sweetheart and get me some cookies from the kitchen"

"Yeah...your errand guy is back" Jake sarcastically said and entered the kitchen. He brought her some of the craved cookies and went back in to make something for himself.
