Elsewhere in town, Christian was staring at his phone for the 20th time that day. He considered himself to be a catch. He’d had his share of flings and relationships over the years, and never had any complaints. He strove to be a giving lover and an effective communicator. Not that it mattered when he was competing with a ghost.
Christian Miller first saw Angela when he was a beat cop, and she was a newly minted reporter. They were both at the bottom of their industry with everything to prove. Unlike him, though, she was in a happy, committed relationship. In fact, her boyfriend was on the force with him, though a little more advanced in his career.
Christian didn’t hate Daniel, but he did feel that Daniel had special privileges since he was dating the chief of police’s daughter. And it wasn’t like Christian only noticed Angela because of who she was. Still, he often thought that he would make a better boyfriend – and cop – than Daniel ever would.
