Amy shrugged her shoulders in defense. "Where would she be sleeping?"
Of course Stephanie was quick to answer. "The master bedroom, of course."
Damn, that was near her room, would she have to see this witch first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening? No, this was impossible. "Okay, have a nice evening then," she clapped and two maids appeared Helen included. "Helen, I am sure you know this annoying lady here," she pointed at Stephanie who was fuming at the nickname. "Please have her settle in your boss's room immediately."
She smirked and then walked to her room.
"Honey, did you see how she behaved, she was acting as if she is the lady of the house!" Stephanie complained to Jeff when Amy was out of sight. Jeff only massaged his throbbing temples and signaled the maids to do their tasks as he and Stephanie took cold drinks, not even wanting to imagine how the month would go with Stephanie in his villa.
Amy took her laptop, used the backdoor to get into the backyard and found a gazebo somewhere between thick trees. She immediately wrote down her song on the theme nature. She finished a minute to the deadline and quickly sent the lecturer the work, thanking all the Gods she knew existed above there.
When she had made sure that the assignment was sent safely, she lay back on her seat and her mind drifted to her current problem. A month with that witch? How would she even pull though? Of all the places in the world that spoiled witch had to choose to come to the villa? Yes, she was aware that the villa was built specially for her but for heaven's sake, didn't Jeff have other houses? Couldn't they have gone to spend their romantic nights in the penthouse he owned at least?
She could almost see the image of Stephanie in her floral dress with two red horns on her head and a creepy evil smile. She chuckled a bit, how she and Jeff indeed matched. She giggled again before reaching for her phone and calling Helen private number.
"Helen, I have decided that I would be sleeping in the west wing of the mansion. Make all the rooms I will be using ready before night."
Helen gave her a firm yes before she hung up. She scrolled to the number of the man she had ran into and called him. "Miss, how may I attend to you?" he asked politely.
Amy smiled; she liked making proud people submissive sometimes. "Is the place ready?" she asked.
"The last touches, ma'am," he answered back professionally. Amy nodded her head and hung up. The basement of an orphanage that she was renovating came into her mind. She wanted her new secret studio to be perfect.
She was going to endure that too, her music career was supposed to be promising, this was all she could do for her mother who always thought that music was a curse rather than a blessing. "Mom, wherever you are, I want you to be proud of me," she said emotionally and softly making her lower lip shake as her eyes became misty.
Thinking of her mom only brought sharp and immense pain in her heart and she felt as if it was being squeezed. How she missed her, how she loved her, why, and a drop of tears fell from her eye. Did she have to leave so fast? The worst part was that she couldn't do anything about it. She folded her hands on her chest to hug herself and sadness surrounded her coupled with the cold wind blowing around.
Alone, a crooked smile appeared on her face, yes, alone was the word, she was all alone. What had she done to deny her the privilege of having her mother grow old and see her children? Why couldn't she have her only family member with her? Was God against her? Was she being punished for a sin she didn't remember committing? Before she knew it, she was sobbing quietly in the middle of a mini-forest.
Soft sobs and sniffing could be heard around her. "Amy?" she looked up, her eyes wide. Oh no…
