Hubby and ice cream (Edited)

The drive was silent and very awkward, no one was talking, no sound except the engine running. This was the most awkward drive ever since she married Jeff. Damn, she couldn't do this. "So, when am I being set free from all of this?"

In some situations, closing her mouth would have been a better option and she was well aware of it. Jeff gave her a brief look and continued driving, took a turn as they got into the city, then the car came to a halt in front of an ice cream parlor. Amy turned to Jeff. What were they doing in front of an ice cream parlor? "Get what you like." He dropped his hands on the steering wheel and leaned back on his chair.

"Pardon?" Were her ears working well? Oh no, she had lost it for real.

Jeff turned his head slowly and looked at her. "Are you not interested in ice cream?" he asked watching her keenly.

Amy shifted in her seat uncomfortably, geez, he didn't have to give her that look. "I am," she said and opened the car door stepping out. Jeff followed and she rolled her eyes. In short, she was going to buy ice cream with Jeff? She remembered the last time she had met him in the parlor and the exact words he had said to her. She almost giggled at that.

As soon as they stepped in the building, all eyes turned to them. She checked her outfit, was there anything strange? Just plain t-shirt and faded ripped jeans. Wait, she had forgotten that her husband was Jeff? People never even saw him live and here he was, with her in a common ice parlor? But that shouldn't worry her right? He must have his shadow body guards everywhere. Then a lady beside them whispered, actually, whisper yelled. "Is that Jeff Williams in flesh? He's so handsome!"

A bulb lit in her head. She reached for Jeff's hand, ignored his astonished look and linked it with his and walked to the counter to order their ice creams. She knew that if they sat down to take their ice cream, in less than a second they would be arguing and the whole world would know how they didn't get along.

It wasn't as if she cared but building fantasy in the heads of people interested her at the moment. "Ohm, hubby, will you try mint chocolate today, please," she tried her best doggy eyes. Please say yes, she didn't want to imagine Jeff taking strawberry ice cream and her, mint. It would be a weird combination, her marriage was enough, the world didn't have to see their personalities too.

Jeff looked down on her, then the mint chocolate on display. He didn't seem convinced and she could almost see him pouting from the pressure and the looks everyone was giving them. She mentally face-palmed herself, seriously, why was the man in her life so girlish? Who eats strawberry, was he Cinderella? "Fine."

She almost jumped to heaven to thank God for listening to her silent prayer. "May I have two mint chocolate ice creams, please?" she blinked adorably at the guy on the counter, who she had noticed had been checking her out. No offense but her happiness made her a little crazy not knowing that Jeff had misinterpreted her action and was glaring at the poor guy who worked nervously under his narrowed eyes.

It was only when she took the ice creams and turned that she realized there was a silent communication between the guy and Jeff. She shook her head, not now. "Wifey, are you done?"

One of Amy's brows shot up. Okay, it sounded so weird Jeff trying to be romantic with her. "Yeah, we can go to the car." All she wanted at the second was to cut the awkwardness short as she could hear women whispering what a gentleman he was while she didn't deserve him.

They could go to hell, for all she cared, their heads must have been clogged or something. How do they call him a gentleman when she was the one who took their orders and was actually carrying their freezing cold ice cream to the car. Bloody, stupid people!
