77 - Divine Illusion Rulerune,Losing Morgado

Heat, extreme heat.

Explosions of fire, spatial flunctuations, wind and more. Even the ground on which he stood shook and quaked. Screeches and wails came from all sides of the battle yet the pesky creatures never retreated and never fled.

Yiris expected as much since the eight had already informed them all about this creatures. Yet it was shocking to see the creatures uncaring about their continuous death and only eager to throw themselves into the depth of their fights.

'What was it Lady Syrin said?' he mused.

'Their desire for all things life is stronger than any fear of eradication. ' He replayed her words in his head for a while before sighing.

"Tsssk. So annoying." He squatted sword pointed up Osvildas coated on its steel as its ripped through the underbelly of a pouncing beast. His legs locked to the earth slab giving his purchase to skewer and bisects the thing properly.

Rising he glared vehemently around his eyes halting for a second on the silver Kershini Archangel Helma. Her blade was continuously moving even when her feet remained locked in place. Her eyes flashing to all corners rapidly as she kept getting besieged.

"And we're the warlords?" he chuckled with a shake of head.

A tingle shot up his spine and instantlyfeeling danger he jumped to the side quickly avoiding the pounce of another abomination that resembled what the system called a cat.

Without waiting he swung his blade around and slashed down catching it at the back and severing its hind legs. The things burned away with screeches.

Looking around Yiris noted something peculiar. The Heralds all seemed to have control over some different element. He watched one kershini who swung his blade and released wind from it. Another a Kyratk this time emitted the flames out of her palms and burned an entire crowd of fragments.

Realizing that this exhibition of power was due to them having picked a rulerune he smiled at how efficient they became he was convinced.

"Guess I'll choose too". Bringing up his system he looked at his own rewards.

Yiris was quick to scan the rune descriptions. Without realizing it the Keeshinis and the Kyratks all had different runes to choose from. While the Kershinis were about light and metal mostly the Kyratks had gotten the opposite.

Yiris though didn't bother looking to the first two. His thoughts were quirw simple. 'I can already fly if needed. And I have one of the strongest flames in the multiverse. So it'll be stupid to pick a rune on that again"

If Duke had heard his logic he would have bent his head in shame. After all Yiris felt he was right, at the moment when they didn't know how strong or how many skills and rulerune they could get, it would have been wiser to have an assortment of tricks and abilities to use.

But the main importance here was one crucial fact that Duke had overlooked. The rulerune they were engraving was divine. While he might have lacked understanding of the difference. Yiris didn't.

There was Divine rank rulerunes, Celestial rank rulerunes , Eternal rank rulerunes, Mythucal rank rulerunes and so on down the scale.

For them celestial star creatures having the chance to use a divine rulerune was a good thing. But they could only ever get one. While everyone could engrave lots of runes in their seat of consciousness it was not possible to engrave more than one of a rank higher than you such as a divine while being only celestial.

It was suicidal. So why lose his only chance to gain a powerful rulerune when he could still create other celestial rank rulerune in his head. It would not be as powerful but his current choice would make him almost invincible amongst his fellow heralds.

"I choose you" Focusing on the third one he brought it up.

'Yes'.

His eyes quaked as Osvildas dimmed and the flames on his sword quenched. All the black fire in his body flooding up into his head and into his seat of consciousness.

Once again the finger began etching the rulerune using Osvildas to engrave.

[Divine Illusion Rulerune Engraved]

As fast as it started it ended as Yiris almost dropped to his knees from the assault of energy loss and the flow of information and insight into him. A screech in front of him had him stiffening his eyes flashing open to strike.

In front of him stood Helma her sword thrusted in nothing even though he noted the final flickers of ash burning off around it.

Her head turned slightly to glare at him a sharp glint in her eyes.

"That was risky." she said before leaping away without another word. His lips stretched up in a grin as he watched her move back.

While the both races hadn't exactly done anything to be enemies it was already set in them as order and chaos beings to dislike each other. Yet it seemed to be ineffective for few.

Shaking the thoughts off his mind he pushed osvildas to activate the rulerune in his head. The rulerune glowed with a purple hue before he made a thought.

Before his shocked eyes a purple like smoke separated from his body and gathered together by his side reforming to create another Yiris.

From head to toe it was complete even the sword was there and even a flame was burning in his eyes and on his sword. With a nod the mirage Yiris shot forward dashing forward into a group of fragments that descended down on him.

Yet before they could even completely devour this free food their heads separated from them and burned to nothing. Several Kyratks who had seen this event and what this rulerune could do could only sigh at their already made choices

"Ah. I wish I picked that now" A kyratk who had wind billowing around him complained.

"Your wind is powerful shut it. It's just a mirage." another Kyratk admonished.

"Yes but compared to being able to trick and trap your enemies, illusion is more effective"another Kyratk added his eyes wide with admiration.

" Well whatever, my darkness rulerune isn't to joke with either". the other Kyratk argued clearly peeved.

Yiris completely unaware to this was smiling gleefully at his achievement and wise choice. Looking to Helma he could only smirk and dash forward ready to repay the favour. Or was it to show off.

Yet his feet never moved when the ground suddenly shattered.

The earth he stood on caved beneath him and vanished as it dropped. Quick to react his wings stretched out as he tore up with a flap only to get sucked back as a huge whirl of wind pulled him down.

Looking around as he strained Yiris realized that he wasn't the only one in this sudden predicament. In fact it seemed that half of the Heralds and even the fragments were being pulled by whatever this was.

Something whizzed by him in a silver and white streaked. His eyes widened as he spotted the familiar face falling past him.

Yet he calmed when he watched the Kershini unfurl their wing from around her and flapping vigorously against the air suction.

At this moment the entire Heralds realized that there was nothing they could do as they were battling getting sucked back. So keen were their concentration to keep afloat that they could barely shoot of any ranged elements.

Most of them were still unable to shoot out their flames as projectiles anyway and for those with an element gotten from the divine rulerune they were still lacking it's description.

Someone like Helma who had chosen the divine light rulerune could still only barely make a spark. In other words.

They were stuck.

Boom.

Everyone heard the explosion in the distance and then the environment around them heated up. The watched wide eyed as fire shot at them wrapped around a point as it came closer and closer.

'ABN ÊIKE!!!' the mental scream was all Yiris could do as he felt for the first time a fear of his own existence.

Fortunately the fire broke open revealing a familiar huge hammer than streaked past. It didn't leave the Heralds undamaged though as the fire burned most and melted the silver bodies of the others severely.

Fortunately the flames were compressed in a line so it was able to avoid giving any fatal damage to them.

Yet once it was past, Yiris felt his heart drop. The hammer and the fire had disappeared almost like a matchstick dropped into water and getting snuffed out.

Morgado was lost, swallowed by something Yiris couldn't understand.

He wasn't the only one though. Even others like Helma were surprised. If the Sun God's hammer was lost without inflicting any damage what could they measly Feus(1) and Daus(2) heralds even go about this now.

Yiris gritted his teeth his heart unaccepting of this situation. His very first big fight and he was already dying. Wouldn't this be shameful to the All-father.

His creations couldn't even fight one battle. They all had heard how the all-father with just one sword had held back a horde even larger than this while creating the Azkolves.

Shouldn't his creations be able to even win a fight. His head rose as a new conviction flared within him. Ignoring the stiffness of his wing muscles he made a turn ready to dive down and attack this thing.

Boom.

The blackness that surrounded them turned red.
