The horde of creatures pouring out the path was almost endless. The little space left between the humans and these beasts shortened drastically as the creatures neared.

For the humans who were stuck here, it was a dire situation. There was no way out which created several questions. Several gazes landed on Old man Kindo but for the moment non made any moves to question him. Death was gathered before them salivating and it would be foolish to fight while there was discord amongst them.

Moira was first to break the palpable silence that held the horror and terror of a looming fate.

"Humda, you're with me. Kill as many as you can. " she looked the swordsman straight in the eye before turning to Kendor.

"Kill anything that gets past us both." The hunter nodded a grin breaking out on his face in an attempt to be reassuring. No one was buying it.

"Carla you'll have to substitute for Sanda while.."

"My mana levels are low. I'm not sure how many shields I can make or how many heals I can perform at the moment". Moira halted at Carla's statement feeling stumped.

"Save up your mana then. Only react when necessary. No need to heal anyone for now. Even if you healed them now and they got attacked again it would be a waste." Humda analyzed. Turning he faced the crowd.

" Everyone not fighting try to help with those not injured. There's little mana to spare for now so try to keep them stable until later "

Moira with a relieved nod then faced the girl lying on the floor whom Carla had been fussing over.

" How is she? "

That one question triggered a different reaction from Humda. Somehow the boy must have forgotten that his sister was at death's bed or maybe he hadn't but just acted normally. Either way, he was at her side instantly crouched as he accessed her.

"It went all through. There's a ruptured organ and some blood pipes. She's stable for now but I'll have to heal her some more to pull her out of this state". Humda with a grimace nodded hesitating for a bit.

"Go. She won't wake even if you stay here". Her words were enough to convince him. Not that he needed convincing, he just had to make sure she was alive.

'Yes. That was it'. He nodded to himself. Humda prided himself on being logical so a moment of irrationality where there was nothing he could do didn't sit well with him.

"Only one problem now" Moira brought back their attention. Everyone stared at the female whose gaze was focused ahead of the gathering creatures.

"How do we handle it?"

Everyone followed her line of sight to the "it". And it was frightening. Standing on six paws, with a black mane and cat-like features was a grand beast. Its tail looked made of metal, packed with sharp spikes. Green eyes that were slit in a reptilian way, huge maws with fangs as large as a full-grown man. The creature itself was large enough to dwarf all of them and not in the normal way. Each of them barely reached up to its limb joint.

"Kendor what is it?" Humda asked.

Kendor though was stupefied not due to its size, even the lesser giants were bigger. Instead, its status had his jaw hanging low.

Name -

Race - Hellzmane Lion

Lifegrade - Evolver

Mana - 10000/10000

Attack - 10000

Defense - 10000

Skills - ????? , ???? , ?????, ????.

One should know that each attack from a Bukgarwolf wolf brought Carla's mana shield from a hundred percent to just twenty. Now here was a creature with over 10,000 in attack damage.

By the time he explained everything, no one had a hopeful expression. Even Moira had a pale face now. Fighting stronger beasts was one thing, attacking literal behemoths was another. She was basically at the early stage of an evolver life grade. Yet this thing was most likely at the peak of an evolver if they went by the system's classification.

"It doesn't matter." Everyone looked at her with frowns. What did she mean it didn't matter? It was a sure one-way death.

"We either fight and try. Or just die either way." Her words froze them. She was right, death was assured in any case. So why not make the beasts bleed to get their flesh?

This was the thought process everyone now had.

Moira turned and nodded at Humda before looking straight at Carla. The girl looked away focusing right back on Sanda as she muttered.

"Make it quick. You still have one more reward to unlock you know".

No one moved though. The words left unsaid were obvious. Carla refused to show weakness now. It wasn't what Moira needed. So she simply gave her the proof that she expected her to win. It might have looked like she was overestimating her sister's capabilities but everyone understood.

Carla was secretly saying. Don't dare die.

Moira whether she got the hidden message or not smiled at her little sister before glaring at Kendor.

"Don't let anything past you". Then she was gone.

'Fast'. Humda who had his stats upped plus with the stacked effects of his gear barely noticed her move. All he could see was a blur leaving the point of origin. If he knew that only one point separated their agility at this point he would have been surprised at the gap just a point could create.

Shaking his head he too nodded at Kendor, the latter giving him an encouraging smile before watching his friend run off.

Humda refrained from using his shadow hopper skill and instead depended on his normal speed to save up on mana. His speed carried him right to the edge of the beasts just as he saw Moira appear right in front of the Hellzmane Lion.

'Dark Cleave'

DARK CLEAVE - Active

Coat your blade with the darkness of the shadows slashing out to generate an attack equal to str x mind x Lv.

20% Chance to perform a Double Dark Cleave as long as Dexterity is x2 of strength.

SHIIING.

The sound of the nodachi slicing through the air chilled the hearts of the less powerful creatures before him. But the sight of a black moon arc splitting through the air and straight at them froze their movements.

The attack was meant to lure their attention straight to him giving Moira the full focus to fight that thing. And the idea worked.

You have slain Bukgarwolf

You have slain Stiffer serpent

You have slain Cankerous Reaper

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain . . .

You have slain Three-handed ape.

ESSENCE LOCKED TILL AFTER EVOLUTION.

Ignoring the words he shot forward into the now panicking crowd the weight of his nodachi suddenly even greater than earlier. Right as he appeared next to two beasts one about to slash at his face and the other attempting to scurry off, the whistle of the wind had him tilting his head just a bit.

PLOP.

An arrow sank into the thing's head eviscerating its skull. Not hesitating the nodachi swung cutting through the neck of the fleeing Bukgarwolf.

You have slain Bukgarwolf

ESSENCE LOCKED TILL AFTER EVOLUTION.

Uncaring he dived into the midst of these things his body moving into a state of seamless combat honed for the past months. He used monsters to hide from attacks, gutted monsters, decapitated them, and then retreated only to repeat. His feet never remained in one position. His eyes were everywhere and nowhere for long. Forty points of intelligence helped him to ascertain the fastest way to end a beast and the best time to retreat.

Around him, creatures that tried to attack from his blindspots fell arrows sticking out their heads. When he was ganged up by two or more he would leap up and away watching as three arrows landed in the area and set off flameworks that roasted his assailants.

Yet funny enough his eyes were still locked on a certain fight happening at the rear of the beasts. A fight that was less a fight than it was a one-sided beatdown.

But in all of it, he saw an opportunity, a rare opening that he could capitalize on. A chance to inflict a deadly wound on this macabre behemoth.

He waited counting down to the moment as his nodachi ripped through animals he had long lost interest in.

Then it appeared. The moment he was waiting for. Like a silent reaper, he called up the words of his status page focusing on one specific line.

MANA - 8/50(21/100)

He'd used up five for the Dark Cleave bringing his already low mana reserves even lower. And now he was about to use it again.

With a thought, he summoned the night darkness onto him and his sword. Letting the black nothingness wrap around him. Then like a beast within the night, he was pulled back right out of reach of a pouncing Stifferserpent and fell into a void of darkness.

A void that opened up right where he wished for it. Above the eye of the Hellzmane Lion as it reared its head up to bellow out a prideful roar after smashing its arrogant prey into the ground yet again.

Yet its roar cut off as in confusion it forgot to comprehend the sight of the parting night, of a black figure dropping onto its face. It only registered the wrongness of the situation once the blade sunk into its eyes and blood splashed up.

ROOOAAR!.

MANA - 1/50(14/100)

Thanks to Kuma-Tay his nodachi and the Erlezonite armor he had two more capable uses of his shadow hopper. Yet he took the chance he had. Foregoing his safety as the beast raised a paw to swat him down. he activated the next skill.

Dark Cleave.

MANA - 0/50(9/100)

The blade slid out the thing's eye as he leaped away more blood spurting out just as the paw slapped its face. Turning Humda landed right into the hole where he grabbed a groggy Moira using shadow hopper to get away.

[Mana low. Unable to activate skill]

The ding came with a slight prick in his mind that warned him of his low mana reserves which were unable to accommodate two passengers within the void he sought to travel by.

The Hellzmane lion was already on its feet now its anger palpitating, a dreadful aura looming around it. Flames, reddish, and orange aggressively appeared around its fur.

SHADOW HOPPER - Active

The familiar tug and pull of the void was visible as the Hellzmane Lion glared at the spot. Then it looked to the side where it watched as a figure dropped out from another rip in the void and landed right by the lone archer.

Yet it didn't care. Its eyes locked right on the perpetrator of its wound. One eye closed it simply ignored its former foe and lunged right at the new one before him. The one that had cut a hole in its eye.

Humda.

Beside an alarmed Kendor Moira pushed herself up anger brimming in her eyes. It was obvious what the idiot had done.

Using the last reserves of mana he had he tossed her into the void before coating himself in the embrace of the night. His ability so it didn't need mana to activate. And now he stood a man with a sword against a freaking burning lion.

Humda frowned at the insanity of his actions. This was the second time in just one night.

Moira dashed forward.

Ever since her evolution in the forest after slaying the Orc chieftain months back. Moira had gotten a new attribute that worked far differently from the others. The girl would never compare her brain to the likes of Humda who was the most logical of them. But she knew one thing about the attribute. It increased her energy output considerably by a huge margin.

How?. An example was right now. Even as she sneered with annoyance before standing even before she dashed off. Moira had been pulling at the feeling of warmth in her chest where she knew that energy always was.

She'd pushed and spread it over her entire body but pushed more than 50% to her legs. The moment she stepped forward and dashed the ground exploded. Kendor who was right by her side was flung away. Traveling at a quarter of the speed of sound Moira appeared right in front of the Hellzmane Lion. As instantly as she got there the rest of the Sol flowing in her all rushed to one spot pushed to her right hand by her mind and flooding into her palms as she tightened it into a fist.

The Hellzmane Lion for a split second felt its mane tingle as a feeling of danger pricked at it.

BOOM.

The shockwave threw the girl and Humda away from the Hellzmane Lion. The ground beneath their feet ripped away as the shockwave tore through it like paper.

[Skill learned - Sol Manipulation]

[Skill Formed - Omega Fist]

Ignoring both notifications she got up quickly to her feet then stumbled a feeling of nausea washing over her.

SOLS - 0/160

'I'll .. be cursed. That took all my Sol".

" What was that?" Coughing Humda stood his nodachi in hand supporting him up.

" Me showing you how stupid it was to attempt such a thing" she hissed annoyed before looking away.

" Thank you" It came out low but Humda still heard a smirk lighting up his face.

"You're... " his words were cut off by a roar from the Hellzmane Lion. It appeared from the dust of the explosion an infuriated expression on its face.

"I'm tired of this" Humda confessed his shoulders sagging.

"Same. But we have no choice. " She seemed to hesitate for a moment before sighing. "Together?" The boy was obviously shocked at this. Moira loved battling on her own always seeking to test the strength of all her foes. At the same time, he got serious. Her asking for his cooperation showed how much trouble the Lion was.

The ground quaked as the Lion moved crossing the distance in a flash. It was there and then it was here.

"Fast"

"Fast"

The two exclaimed as one but none reacted as the Lion's paw descended with rage on them.

'It finally ended.'

'After all that struggle'.

Both their thoughts were the same and no one would blame them. The Lion was just too strong. The shadow enlarged and finally, the paw struck.

Boom!!!!
