Chapter 26

James was confused at first at what he was seeing. One minute Alpha Bradley was beside him, the next a large wolf, larger than even his father was tossing his guards like toys. Before he could take a step, the word "Mine" growled through his lips. What on earth could Bradley be referring to?

The next thing he next was that his Luna was now caressing and embracing the wolf. Even where he was, James could hear the rumble of pleasure purring out of him. James saw when the wolf licked Trishanna and then everything clicked. Alpha James was about to mark what should be his.

A roar of rage and fear of losing tore out of his throat. His wolf was cursing him for not marking Trishanna when they had the chance. Transforming quickly, he lunged at his guest, in hopes of taking his prize away. His desire for her was not just about making a good Luna that would obey his every word and warm his bed, but now his pride was on the line. Everyone knew how he felt about the omega, even if they weren't too sure what that feeling was. How would it look if she was taken away by someone else?

When Bradley heard the roar, he had a few seconds to shove Trishanna out of the way, before he was attacked by a big brown wolf. Although his opponent wasn't equal in size or strength, his determination made up for it. The brown wolf didn't waste time and aimed for the jugular. The faster he got rid of this threat, the faster he would claim his Luna. However, the gold wolf thought the same thing. He wasn't sure what brought about this change in the Bloodmoon's Alpha, but he knew that it had something to do with the now frightened female.

Taking a chance, he linked his Beta and asked him to protect her at all costs. A moment that cost him. The split-second Bradley turned to ensure that she was alright, James slammed into his side, taking a large bite on his shoulder. Bradley shook himself and managed to get out of it. Biting James's leg, he managed to toss him a few feet away into a tree. Shaking off the pain, he knew that he was already healing.

Werewolves of higher rank, have the benefit of being able to link with one another while in their beast's form, once within range. The stronger the wolf, the better the connection. Bradley growled at his host, warning him to stay down, but he just growled back in defiance. "What's the matter with you Alpha? Is this how you treat your guest, by attacking them without reason?"

James growled at the obvious disrespect. "Trishanna is MINE." Bradley pulled back and followed James's line of sight towards the female standing aside, being comforted in the motherly arms of the councilwoman. He was glad that his Sam was guarding her, from a safe distance. He knew that his wolf wouldn't be able to handle another male too close to her right now or at any other time.

"Trishanna, that's her name?" he asked. "What a beautiful name for my mate." At this James howled and lunged at him.

"She is mine. MINE!" The two wolves rolled around, snapping and biting at each other. "She is my omega and mine to do with as I see fit." Bradley scoffed, "Last I checked, she is an unmarked female, meaning that I can claim her, and claim her I shall." With this declaration, Bradley just decided to end the fight. He didn't want to go too hard on his mate's Alpha, but if getting him out of the way was his only choice, then he would do so.

James lunged onto Bradley's back and bit down on his neck again. This time he planned to work his teeth toward the vital vein that would end things. Bradley however was ready and with a speed, he began spinning in a circle. James began to get dizzy and the moment his hold slackened; Bradley tossed him onto the ground.

Landing on his back, James tried to get up, but he was pinned to the ground. Bradley panted above him, a gleam of triumph in his eyes. "My Mate is MINE." And with that, he was about to put the pitiful Alpha out of his misery, when a strong aura, caused him and everyone around him to fall to the ground.

Councilwoman seers tagged along with her granddaughter toward the prison. She always like taking a stroll after her meals and she knew something was up with Alexa. Every time the imprisoned omega was mentioned, her heartbeat skipped or sped up and a look of confusion crossed her face. Knowing that there was one way to get to the bottom of this mystery, she volunteered to go with the men.

The walk also allowed her to look around the pack. Everything seemed to be fine but rundown. Watching the back of the pack's Alpha, she noticed that he was in the latest fashion. Yet it seems as though the wealth was not distributed equally amongst his pack. As they neared the prison, she noticed a tall and beautiful girl emerge.

One-minute things were fine, and the next pieces of cloth rained down on her head. The familiar pale gold wolf was protecting the girl and soon they were embracing. Although this trip was to help her granddaughter find her mate, it would be great if the Goldmoon's Alpha found his as well.

Cynthia wanted to meet the young lady who had so effortlessly captured the heart of her adopted nephew when Alpha James seemed to have lost his mind. Transforming, he lunged at Bradley and the two began to fight. Cynthia has lived long enough to know that the reason was the young woman lying in the dirt. Rushing to her side, after Beta Sam, she helped her up and hugged her to calm her nerves. She could tell that the young woman had no idea what was happening.

As they watched the wolves fight, Cynthia knew that they were talking through the link. Patting the cold hands of the omega, she whispered calming words, assuring her that everything would be alright. Of course, it would be just like those two Neanderthals to make her look like a liar. When she noticed that Bradley was about to take the life of his opponent, she decided that it was time for Councilwoman Seers to step in.
