Chapter - 60 - Volcano

Gianna was confused and was not sure what Zane was trying to say. Gianna was about to ask him what he meant, but his phone started to ring. Zane excused himself to answer his phone but sprinted toward the ER upon receiving the call. Gianna finished her brunch and dropped by the ER department room. The few residents present in the room were surprised by her sudden visit. They greeted her with respect and invited her inside the room.

"This is Dr. Zane's sandwich. Can you keep it in the refrigerator and give it to him when he returns?" asked Gianna. One of the residents nodded and placed the sandwich inside the refrigerator after sticking a note with his name on top of the sandwich's outer covering. Gianna asked them about their training and gave them a few pieces of advice to complete their thesis before she left the room. She sent a text message to Zane reminding him about his sandwich as she stepped out of the room and left for her office.

Meanwhile, in the base, "Where are you going, Rick?" asked Derrick as he passed the car's key to Rick. "Prepare your men for the mission," said Rick in his usual cold voice and left in the car. Derrick shook his head and asked Albert, standing behind him, "Don't your captain have a habit of answering a question?" Albert shrugged his shoulders, and asked, "Do you think he will answer if I ask him why he does that?" Derrick, let out a laugh and patted Albert's shoulder before entering the base.

Rick parked the car far from the nearest bus stop from the base and climbed into the bus leading to his destination. He texted an unsaved number from his phone. Rick: I will be there in another 20 minutes. Unknown: Okay. The movie 'Savage prey' has good reviews. Rick looked at the movie ticket he received through the text and chuckled at the movie name. He kept his phone back in his phone and admired the weather while sitting on the moving bus.

"Gianna, I miss you," whispered Rick looking at the clouds moving in the sky. Rick missed the moment he sat with her on the balcony admiring the beautiful night sky and wanted to admire the sky with her forever but in the end, it was a hopeless wish.

Gianna went through her emails and started with her project research. Knock Knock… Gianna glanced at the time and saw it was two in the noon. She didn't know time ticked away so soon and realized she had been sitting there for two hours! "Come in." Victor and Ralph entered her office with a smile on their faces.

"The surgery was successful, Dr.G. The patient has been transferred to the ICU, and we will keep an eye on the patient," reported Victor. Gianna nodded and said, "Take rest till 5 in the evening and join me for the rounds. Inform Stanley to keep an eye on the patients meanwhile."

Victor and Ralph thanked her and left for the department room happily.

Gianna's stomach growled, but it went off instantly when she remembered yesterday's lunchtime with Rick. It was not about what she had for lunch but with whom she had lunch. She tiredly laid her head on the table and thought about the note Rick had left for her. She suddenly stood up from her chair and dashed out of her office, feeling frustrated at the thought of Rick.

"What are we going to have for lunch?" asked Alice, rubbing her tummy. "You both haven't had lunch yet?" asked Victor, looking at the time. "No. We were waiting for you both," said Stanley surfing through the food delivery app. Bang! The team was startled by the loud noise and saw Dr.G standing in the doorway. "Let's order something spicy!" said Gianna in a raised voice. The team was confused and didn't understand why Dr.G was behaving weirdly. They also didn't dare to voice out their doubts.

The four ordered mildly seasoned noodles for them and super spicy noodles for Dr.G. All of them looked at Gianna with surprise as she was devouring the noodles like drinking water. Gianna's face turned bright red with her lips swollen, the tears trickling down her eyes and nose, but she didn't mind and continued to have the noodles even though it was spicy.

The team was impressed by Dr.G's endurance and how she continued to have spicy noodles. Gianna didn't feel the noodles were spicy even after the body exuded thermal reaction because the sudden departure of Rick and the stupid arrogance of Jason made her body resistant to the spiciness of the noodles.

Gianna let out a satisfied groan as soon as she finished the noodles and leaned back on her chair, looking at the ceiling. Stanley passed on a cold drink to Gianna, and she gulped down the whole drink within seconds. The team felt as if they were having lunch near a volcano that was about to spit out hot lava anytime soon. Dr.G continued to lean back on the chair with her eyes closed. The team quickly finished their lunch and cleaned the mess on the table without making any noise.

"Let's go and have some coffee. You two can take a rest if you want," announced Gianna as she walked towards the door. The team immediately followed her without any hesitation. Gianna could hear the team whispering behind her as they walked through the corridor and suddenly stopped in her tracks. Gianna turned toward them with a questioning look on her face. "Is the topic so interesting that you all are whispering so loud like a buzzing bee?" asked Gianna with a serious face.

The team gave her an awkward smile and as usual, looked at Victor. Victor stepped up and asked, "Dr.G, did something happen? Why are you in a bad mood?"
