Chapter - 104 - Promotion

Knock knock… "Come in," said a deep voice. Gianna entered the room and greeted, "Good morning, Dr. George!" "Good morning, Gianna! Oh! Should I say Dr. G?" Gianna chuckled and said, "Gianna is good!" Dr. George laughed and signaled her to take a seat.

"I wanted to inform you that you will be overlooking the entire neurosurgery department as the senior attending physician from today!" said Dr. George. 'People might think I deliberately put Jason in a psychiatric hospital to get promoted!' thought Gianna. "Why? Is there a problem with the promotion? Don't worry about the pay we will pay you handsomely!" said Dr. George with a bright smile.

"What happened to Dr. Jason?" asked Gianna innocently. Dr. George and Dr. Henry exchanged looks. "I guess it's okay to tell Gianna," said Dr. George looking at Dr. Henry. Dr. George spilled the beans about the issue. Dr. Gianna acted as if she was shocked to hear about the matter.

"I never expected this! He was such a good doctor!" said Gianna in disbelief. The men also nodded in agreement to her remark. "Dr. Henry will announce your promotion to others, and if you find it hard to manage alone, inform us so that we can look for a skilled junior attending physician or a fellow."

Gianna thanked both of them and left for her office. She looked at Jason's room and saw his name board was missing! She opened his office door and chuckled. The room was wiped clean without a trace of Jason.

Ring ring…

"Good morning, Dr. G! I have resolved the matters. We found many photos of yours in Dr. Jason's apartment. What should we do?" asked Ms. Nicole. "Burn all the unwanted things and store the rest including his car," ordered Gianna. "Okay, Dr. G!" "Good work, Ms. Nicole! Handle the rest with care," said Gianna and hung up the call.

"Not again!" shouted Stanley in the corridor. Ralph and Victor laughed loudly. Victor said, "Trust me, Stanley! It's all for a reason!" Stanley frowned and walked away! A message from Dr. Henry popped into the neurosurgery department group in the texting app. Within 10 minutes, all the staff assembled in the lecture room and waited eagerly for the announcement. Everyone greeted in unison when Dr. Henry entered the room with Dr. G.

"Has everyone arrived?" asked Gianna. The group nodded and looked at Dr. Henry in eagerness. "I have two announcements. Firstly, Dr. Jason resigned from the hospital due to unexpected personal reasons." Everyone in the room gasped in shock and mumbled among themselves!

"Attention, please! Secondly, Dr. Gianna has been promoted to senior attending physician. So, let's all give a round of applause to the youngest senior attending physician!" said Dr. Henry with a bright smile. The staff were happy and cheered loudly! Dr. Henry then excused himself and left the room.

Everyone congratulated her one by one happily. "Thank you all for the wishes! Dr. Jason apologized to you all for leaving you all in this way. He also couldn't bear to leave you all, but his situation gave him no other choice! Hope you all will wish him the best." Everyone nodded and stood there with disappointed faces.

"Dr. Jason always told us to place our sense of duty first. So, I want everyone to cooperate for the smooth operation of our department. Except for the residents, others can leave us," said Gianna as she sat on the chair. Everyone congratulated her once again and left the room.

"From today, team A will be training under me. The discussions, check-up rounds, and briefings will be common from today. Tom, I want all your projects and evaluations in hard copy and soft copy tomorrow by 4 pm. Any questions?" asked Gianna. Both the team shook their heads, and Gianna headed out to continue her work.

"I guess we can't spend more time with Dr. G as before!" said Stanley in a disappointed tone. "Why would Dr. Jason resign suddenly?" asked Alice. They looked at Ralph for an answer. He was tempted to tell them the reason but held back for the future of the hospital. He shrugged his shoulders and continued with his work.

"Why would Dr. Jason resign without informing us?" asked Liam. "I have no idea. All the sudden changes are irritating, but one good thing is we can train under Dr. G from now on! I have always envied team B," said John.

"Dr. Jason's number has been unreachable for the past two days. Let's hope that he will contact us soon! Dr. G is one of the best mentors, and we should utilize this opportunity to improve our skills," said Tom as he typed. The other two men nodded in agreement and continued with their project.

Meanwhile, in the police department, "Congratulations, Sergeant Mason! Sorry. Lieutenant Mason!" shouted Mike and other team members with bright smiles. "Thank you all! I couldn't have come this far without all of your unending efforts! Thank you all once again!" said Mason and left for his new office with Mike.

"I have found a lead on the drug dealer, Lieutenant Mason," informed Mike. "Continue tracking the dealer and inform me when you confirm it," said Mason.

"Aren't you going to inform Dr. Gianna about your promotion?" asked Mike. "I have to! We have planned to meet tomorrow for coffee," said Mason with a bright smile. "If you smile like this tomorrow, then she will never agree to another date!" said Mike with a chuckle. Mason glared at him and asked, "Don't you have work to do?" Mike stopped laughing and excused himself.

"Who else other than me is worthy to date her?" mumbled Mason as he looked at the records on his table.
