Chapter - 121 - Pursue you harder!

"How is the child's condition, Dr. Gianna?" asked Mason, in a gentle tone. "The surgery is successful, but he should stay in the ICU for a few days for further observation." "Dr. G!" interrupted Dr. Zane as Mason was about to speak. Gianna turned and looked at him with narrowed eyes. "I am sorry I was late!" said Dr. Zane in a regretful tone. Mason didn't understand what was going on and looked suspiciously at Zane.

"Lieutenant Mason, you will have to listen to this!" said Gianna to Mason. She then said in a brisk tone to Zane, "Explain."

"Initially, I doubted the child had hypothermia as he was left outside in the cold for an unknown amount of time, but I noticed a white mark on his neck. On close inspection, I doubted it might be drugs and immediately told them to run the tests. It turned out to be positive for drugs. The chemists ruled it out to be a drug with a high dosage and informed that the drug has to be new in the market," informed Zane in an earnest tone.

Mason had an ugly expression and looked at Gianna for assurance. Gianna nodded as if to say, 'Yes, you have got it right!' Mason immediately walked a few steps away while dialing Mike's number. Zane caught the little exchange of looks between them and asked Gianna in a low voice, "Is there an issue I am unaware of?" Gianna shook her head and said, "Drugs are always a headache to the police. Our responsibility is to report, and the rest is their duty. Let's go!" Zane nodded his head obediently but was not satisfied by her answer. He was damn sure that there was something they were hiding.

"Doesn't the child have any guardians?" asked Gianna looking at Alice. "No one has reported yet, Dr. G." Gianna and the team walked into the discussion room. Gianna stopped Stanley before entering the room and told others to go inside. Stanley looked at Gianna nervously and started to think whether he made any mistake back in the operation room. "Stanley, why weren't you shocked when the blood splattered on your face earlier?"

Stanley was shocked to hear her question and recalled the incident. 'Why wasn't I shocked? How come I casually wiped my face and assisted Dr. G? How did I turn up so brave?' thought Stanley and stood in a daze. As Gianna could guess what he was thinking in his mind, she said, "You did a good job today!" "Dr. G! It's because Dr. Ralph always….." Stanley stopped mid-sentence and realized something shocking! "Dr. G, is this why you told Dr. Ralph to spray water on my face? Is this the Water - mission?"

Gianna chuckled and said, "Good that you realized. You have passed the training. I will kick you out of the team if you tell anyone about this. Do you understand?" Stanley nodded vigorously and said, "I will take this secret to the grave, Dr. G!" Gianna smiled and walked into the room with Stanley. As Gianna settled in the meeting room, they discussed the project, reports, and surgeries.

"Dr. G let's go have coffee!" said Alice as the meeting ended. Gianna patted her pocket and realized she had left her phone in the office and wanted to reject the residents. But as she noticed their expectant look, she couldn't decline. "Ok-" Gianna was interrupted by Victor's phone ringtone. Victor immediately answered and spoke. "Dr. G, Lieutenant Mason is waiting for you at the waiting area."

"Oh! Okay. I will transfer the amount to Victor. Have coffee and come back immediately," said Gianna. She reached the door but suddenly turned to look at Ralph and said, "Ralph, your student has passed the test. So, you can stop it." Ralph was confused but later smiled as Victor patted Stanley on his back.

"Great work Stanley!" said Victor and Ralph in unison with bright smiles. Others were curious about what they were talking about, but Ralph, Victor, and Stanley kept their mouths shut. Ralph hooked a mysterious smile and said to others, "You will know when it is your time!"

"Sorry, Dr. Gianna. I couldn't reach you on your phone. I had to get help from the reception," said Mason, with an apologetic look. "It's fine. What is the matter, Lieutenant?" "I highly doubt the drug was the 'Third eye'. The child's mother passed away two years ago. His father has debts, as per the reports I have received. According to the neighbors, usually, the child was abused by his father on many nights. I think the child's father can be an important clue to find about the dealers of drugs."

Gianna felt sorry for the kid as he had to undergo such treatment from his father. "I will take care of the child. Don't worry about him, and kindly contact the relatives or welfare committee to take up his case." Mason nodded and asked with a faint smile, "If you are free, shall we have a cup of coffee, Dr. Gianna?" "I would like to, but I have rounds starting soon. Thank you, and take care, Lieutenant." Gianna politely rejected it and turned to leave.

"Fine. Once I put an end to all these issues, I will certainly pursue you harder, Gianna," mumbled Mason looking at her departing figure.

"Dr. G! Are you here for coffee?" called out Dr. Zane from the side.
