The Fool

Evelyn sprinted through the playground before feigning to trip and fall on the ground. After that, she cried.

There was no one present in the area other than the guard. Hearing her loud sobs made the guard alert. Seeing that there was no one around to console the child, he took a glance at the gates.

There was no one outside, and it should be safe. He rushed away from his post to her. He bent down to Evelyn's height.

He softly asked, "What's the matter, kid?"

Tears rolled down her eyes as she raised her head. Her lips were set into a pout. Pointing towards her legs, she answered, "My legs hurt."

She sniffled.

The entire attention of the guard was on her, and Aaron took this as an opportunity to sneakily sprint out through the kindergarten door.

Staying careful, he made sure to make as less sound as possible. Relief spread through his chest when he made his way out of the door safely.
