Chapter 28

Finally, the day of accountability arrived. That was when I remembered I had not informed my aunt about any of the plans made and I didn't want to go and lounge in my mum's house. I went to question Aikens about our accommodation but all he said was, we will know what to do once we got there. I thought Jazzy would have asked him the same question but she just stood with folded arms smiling as usual.

"What are you guys doing? We will miss our flight", that was what she opened her zipped lips to say. We packed the luggage into the car and sped off to the airport to get on board. Eventually, the plane took off and the thought of my mum brushed my mind. The last moment when she escorted me to the airport and waiting for the plane to take off was so vivid in my thoughts. I kept looking down even after the plane had taken off thinking I'd see her but that wasn't it.

I gently placed my head on Aikens' shoulder to relax but I thought he was feeling uncomfortable so I took it off.

"I didn't know you would feel uncomfortable ", I said to him when he gave me a questioning look after raising my head.

"That's because your head was on my shoulder and not my chest to feel my heartbeat "

"Naughty boy"

"Don't forget you are naughtier than I am", he held my head and placed it on his chest. " Now you can relax because everything will be okay".

I fell asleep for a long time for only heavens knew how long I had slept. So soon, we arrived in my country, Kotoka International airport, Ghana. I heard a tap on my shoulder waking me up from my dreamland.

Immediately we got off the plane, I saw aunt Rebecca taking to someone. It's been so long but she has ceased to age. But what I didn't understand was, what she was doing there so I turned to look at Aikens who was just smiling just as Jazzy. 'Did they plan this?,no they don't know aunt Rebecca to be able to plan all of this. Maybe it's just a coincidence ', I thought. I wanted to question them but aunt Rebecca held my wrist.

"See how grown my daughter has become", she gave me a tight hug. I didn't know she would recognize me so easily but she did.

"You look just like your mum"

"Aunt, I missed you", was all I could utter out of confusion. She then left me and went to look at Aikens and Jazzy who were just staring at us.

"Good day aunt", Aikens greeted. I don't remember telling him that's my aunt so how did he find out.

"Good day my dear, how have you been?. Thanks for taking care of my niece"

"It was my duty to take care of her, aunt, no need to thank me"

"Can someone tell me what's going on here?", I was now totally confused.

"Let's get home and talk, we can't stand her all day", she said dragging me by the wrist with Aikens and Jazzy following behind closely. Even though it had been years since I left my country, I still remembered some of the landmarks. I felt there was a change in the direction to my aunts house .

"Aunt. When did you relocate from your house?", I found myself asking.

"So you still remember where I leave?", he questioned back.

"I don't really remember clearly but I know this isn't the route to your house"

"Well I moved to the new place not long ago"

I had to agree with her since she could t be leaving at the same place for that long. Very soon, the driver pulled in front of a big housetop should I say mansion? The gate was automatic so it opened on it own making way for entry. What I didn't understand was, aunt always complained about staying in a big house but she claimed she had moved to such a house.

I stood amazed at the sight that was in front of me and turned speechless. It was such a beautiful house with four cars when I counted. 'How would my aunt be staying in such a house and big as this alone?', I thought.

"Millicent, Benjamin, come out here", aunt called out. A very beautiful girl in her early teens came out of the house with an apron around her waist. The guy also came from the behind the house.

"Welcome aunty", they chorus.

"Get the luggage inside ", she commanded and they did as fast as possible.

"Let's go inside my dear", she said and dragged me in. I turned to look at Aikens and Jazzy but they weren't amazed at anything getting me more confused.
