Chapter 13 - Madness

I was hoping for a nice and quiet day after the whole hanging Murphy incident, but someone seem to disagree with me. Some of the sentries that were on the night watch were woken up by the sonic boom of something entering Earth's atmosphere, creating panic amongst our people.

After I told Miller to gather a team, I kept things about one single: Who could blindly come down here? The Ark had a few thousands of people living there, but I only know one single person brave and yet so dumb to do something so dangerous like coming to Earth in a makeshift dropship.

"Raven, just why have to come down…"

Although she wasn't the only mechanic capable of tinkering with a capsule or a dropship, she was probably the only foolish enough to throw away her life work for a chance to come here, but for what reason? She and Finn broke up while he was locked, so he shouldn't be the reason, but then again maybe he lied. As for Raven, she was brilliant, beautiful, and took no crap from anyone, and most likely that's why I believe she's the one coming down.

Soon the delinquents start chattering amongst themselves reassuring each other that whoever was in that dropship was here to help us. Some even speculate that the Ark had sent us weapons or provisions, and a few even joked around hoping that we got shampoo and soap on the way, but the truth is, that all of them are thinking about what could happen to us thanks to the grounders recent attack on our camp. Fear was a powerful weapon in the right hands, or so they say.

When Miller came back with a team made of seven of the people that are completely loyal to me, alongside Bellamy,Finn and Clarke. With a team assembled and ready to move, I signaled all of them to follow me into my tent.

Inside the tent, we gathered around a makeshift map made by Finn and Jasper, and while it was a terrible drawing by modern standards, it was still better than nothing.

"If it cleared the ridge, it's probably near the lake, but that's unknown territory. We didn't have anyone past that point, so we don't know how many grounders could be lurking in that side of the forest."

"Hold our horses, Mark, we found Leon around these parts of the forest, and from how badly injured he was when we found him, we can assume that the grounders still have their camp there. We shouldn't risk going out at night."

"Bellamy's right, we better rest for the rest of the day and leave at sunrise. Even if we leave now, we wouldn't make it back before night falls."

"Everyone for a hundred miles saw this thing come down. How could say that, there could be people inside that pod! What if the Grounders get to them first? We should go now!"

"Clarke, I know that you want to help whoever is in that pod, but we can't risk going outside at night. Even though I'm struggling here, I'd rather keep you all safe than go out in the dark in some ambush. That's my decision, dismissed until sunrise."

With a plan made, I've decided to rest, but not before I was sure that I'll be able to see if someone sneaks out before my team leaves the camp. I trust Bellamy, but not in this situation. He fears that the people from the Ark would execute him for what he had done, but I don't see it like that. Alongside me and Clarke, Bellamy is one of the people that kept the delinquents together, forming his militia and ensuring that all of us were safe until the walls were built.

A few hours later, I caught sight of Bellamy sneaking out of the camp and I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I knew that he was way too passive at the meeting, but I wouldn't have expected him to sneak out like that. If that pod has a radio, then that should be Bellamy's target. As soon as he left through the main gate nonetheless, I snuck out of camp and started chasing after him, at a safe distance since I wasn't sure if he was a friend or foe right now.

By the time we made it past the hunting area, the sun had risen, and since my night cover was no more, I decided to close the distance between us. When I was just a few meters behind him, I shouted at him, making Bellamy stops and hurriedly point his pistol at me,

"What are you doing here, Leon? Don't make me regret what I'm about to do."

"C'mon, Bellamy, if you wanted to shoot me you would have done it already."

"You don't understand! They'll kill me if there's a radio on that pod! I can't let O alone, please, Leon, just turn around and go home."

I tried to step close to him, but I saw the madness in his eyes, he would pull the trigger if I move a single forward. He wasn't himself any longer and the only way to stop this madness was to take him out. Thankfully I had some jobi nuts powder made by our camp dealer, Jasper. These things can make a velociraptor high, so they would definitely work on Bellamy. The only problem? Seven meters between us and I don't believe the powder would even reach him.

"I don't want to do this Bellamy, but if you really want to continue this madness just knock me out cold, or else I'll just follow you."

Luckily he wasn't thinking straight any longer so Bellamy did exactly what I wanted and when he was in front of me, I throw the powder in his face, before tackling him to the ground. Thanks to our fallen friend, the velociraptor, we found out that the effects from these nuts won't last for long which worked perfectly for me. I quickly bind his hands with some rope that I've taken from the camp in case of something like this. Now that he wasn't going to hurt anyone, I simply knocked Bellamy out before tossing him on my shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Unknowingly to either I or Bellamy, his sister had heard everything since she was also stalking Bellamy.

I had been following Bellamy for nearly an hour when I saw Leon facing him. They had their standoff before my brother did something stupid then I saw Leon picking Bellamy and leaving. I was about to follow them again when I heard the sound a branch made when broken. I swung my head from side to side as I searched for the source of the noise but didn't see anyone or anything. That did little to reassure me though since the Grounders were much more skilled at hiding than I was at searching, a tip, Leon told us to be careful about.

Shortly after I resumed my journey, the sound was heard again and again until I start running away, disregarding any reason since I just wanted to get as far away from this place as fast I could. As I was running, I suddenly broke through some underbrush, sadly I tripped and that made me tumble down a steep hill. At the base of the hill, there were several rocks and a few patches of grass, which did almost nothing to cushion my fall. Before I hit a rock with my head, I cursed myself, if only I would have followed Leon's team…
