ELLA’S WRATH

As she walks into her class, she thought of Vivian's statement 'punish those people by law?' Ella immediately disagrees in her mind. "Never! I will punish them with my own hands. I will make sure they experience the same pain that I live in now. They will know how difficult it is to be left alone in this cruel world, I will give life exactly what they gave me." She smiles. "I will repay tears with blood, I swear on my mother's grave that I have never seen."

As soon as she enters the classroom, she saw her friends wearing a very worried look. They were worried thinking of what could have made Vivian rushed to the principal's office.

"Ella!" Asma calls immediately she sees her.

"Why is your aunt in school? Did anything happen?" Abdullah asks.

"Is everything okay?" Darifa asks too.

"No." Ella replies as she approaches her seat. "They just wanted to discuss something, but my aunt had to rush because of work."

"Oh I see, thank God." Abdullah sighs.

Anytime things like this happens, Abdullah is always more worried and affected. But Ella wasn't sure if it was because he knows her identity or because they are friends.

"You people worry to much." Ella smiles and sat.

The male teacher enters the class, looks at Ella and then faces the class to address them. "Prepare yourselves well, the examinations will begin in 30 minutes time." After addressing the class, he walks to Ella, bends towards her and whispers. "I have my eyes on you, be careful.

Ella wanted to reply, but she remembers Vivian's warning, to turn blind eye to certain things. Due to the pain she is going through, anytime she says something out of annoyance, it always hit different at the person. Her manner of speech and attitude towards things always make people very suspicious of her.

She wasn't able to give the appropriate reply, and it angers her. She tightened her fist for a while and then smiles. "Yes sir."

Her friends couldn't understand what was going on, even her entire classmates saw the scene and were shocked.

"Did she get into trouble again?"

"It's becoming too much now."

The teacher stood and placed his palm on her shoulder. "Be a good girl."

He left the scene and Ella's eyes followed him in anger and pain.

"Is everything o-" Abdullah tries to ask but he was cut off.

"Yes." Ella cuts him off. "Everything is fine, let's prepare for our examinations."

Definitely, something was wrong but she didn't want to talk about it. Her friends had to let it go and just let her be for now.

Ella got home, and the first thing she did was to remove her Diamond necklace, her tender hands trembles as she removes it. She had that necklace on since she was born, it came with a pair of earrings though, but it always made her uncomfortable so she stop using it at the age of 5.

She had to remove the necklace because, it always make people extra suspicious of her. It was painful she had to remove the necklace, but still didn't cry. Not even a single tear, she didn't shed one.

As soon as Vivian came back from work, as usual she met dinner at home. Ella had prepared boiled plantain and egg sauce. She smiled on sight of the food but her warden gave no smile in return.

"Are you still mad at me for yelling at you?" Vivian asks.

"No, I am just annoyed that I have to beg someone not to tell the world who I truly am, it's so annoying."

"I know." Vivian whispers and noticed Ella's necklace was gone. "Where is your necklace? Did you loose it?"

"No, I kept it. It was the first thing that told me off to the principal, she saw it by mistake at the police station the other day."

"Good girl." Vivian hugs her. "I am here for you."

"After my high school, I will return to Nigeria."

Vivian draws apart as soon as she heard the statement. "You can't go, you will still be young then."

"Why should I keep running and hiding? I am not a criminal, I will go back to my father land and those terrible people would face my wrath."

"I understand your pain, but this your stubbornness won't get you anything. You want to go back and face death in three years time? You would only be Sixteen by then."

"You don't understand my pain." Ella says with a loud voice. "Have you ever felt like the world is against you?"

"Ella." Vivian calls calmly.

"Since childhood, I was constantly bullied, I lost my parents and grandparents the same day, I had to leave home and run for my life, someone else had taken over my father's hospital. Coming here? Had been nothing but hell, I have to keep fighting loneliness all by myself." Ella exhales. "I am tired, I don't want to go to live like this."

"Shut your mouth!" Vivian retorts. "Are you alone? Do you think I am not affected? Do you think you is easy for me to leave my family and come to this place? I lied to everyone that I got a job here. No one knows I am here with you, if by any chance something happens to you, do you think I am safe?" Vivian nags with tears dropping off her eyes. "So please, be careful. We would return when it is time."

Ella felt those words, Vivian was right. It's not been easy for her too. "Thank you." Ella hugs her tightly.
