BREAKDOWN

She was thinking of her life since childhood up to this moment, how she was always bullied by Linda, how her late parents and grandparents were killed and how she had to run to Burundi to hide. And now, how Vivian left her.

Why would Vivian do that to her of all people? If Vivian who was her best buddy on earth could abandon her in such terrible manner, definitely every other person could do the same or even worse.

It is now getting clear to her, Vivian had persuade her to go and visit Abdullah and even stay long all because she wants to leave.

She was deep in thoughts, that she didn't know when she fell asleep, it was a short and a burdensome one.

"Aunt Vivian! Aunt Vivian! Where are you? When are you coming back?" Ella whispers in a very low tone, with her eyes still closed, covered with cold sweats and was shivering. She kept on moving her head and calling Vivian's name until she finally opened her eyes faintly.

There was no single form of energy in her anymore, she couldn't move nor stand. Ella felt like she was going to die if someone doesn't come to her rescue soon. But who would come to her rescue? She doesn't have the strength to even go out and ask for help.

Her face was pale and her lips were very dried. The most she can do, is to stretch to reach her phone which is in the table very close to her. But who was she going to call with the phone?

Calling her friends would be bad, their parents wouldn't allow them do anything. Instead, they would suggest she calls the police or ambulance which will be very risky. If she calls either of them, they would want to investigate why she was all by herself and it would end up blowing her cover.

Any moment from now, she might get unconscious, so she has to decide on who to call. Ella stretch to reach her phone, it was quite difficult but it was successful. Trying to unlock the phone, her hands trembles and it falls from her. Trying to reach out for it was difficult that she almost fell too, but it didn't happen.

As soon as she picks up the phone, she turns to lay on the other side of her shoulders, facing the couch directly and her back was facing the entrance. She did that to make sure the phone doesn't fall from her again, even if it does it would be on the couch very close to her.

The first person she called was Vivian, but her number wasn't still going through. The thought of who to call was burning her up. Thankfully she had saved Lola's number few days ago. Her pride didn't agree with her to call Lola but she had no choice, that was the only option now.

Lola was having a nice time at home, she was watching a tv program since school was on break, she didn't really have anything to do. The tv program had her laughing and smiling when an unknown number called her. It was a Monday morning, so whoever must be calling her has something very important to say. "Hello." She says as she answers the call.

"Please—save me." Ella whispers.

"What?" Lola asks in surprise. "Who am I speaking with?"

"This is Ella smith." Ella whispers sounding as if she was running out of breathe. "Please save me, please save me."

"Ella!" Lola calls loudly. "What happened to you? Where is your aunt? Why are you talking like this?"

"Please save me." That was all Ella could say.

"Please tell me where you are." Lola says as she runs to her room at get a pen and paper.

"I am at home." Ella whispers still sounding as if she was going to run out of breath soon.

"Ella, please tell me your address. Please try your best, I need to know where you are."

Saying the address was a very difficult task, buts she still managed to say it twice so that Lola could hear well and take note properly. "Please come and save me."

"I am on my way there, Ella make sure not to fall asleep. I am begging you, do not fall asleep." Lola hangs up, picks up her car keys and the paper containing Ella's address and rushed to her car. Before she starts driving, she thought of something. Going to Ella's house alone might be dangerous and at the same time calling the police won't be too good. So she calls Malik. "Hello officer Malik."

"Hello pretty principal Lola, to what do I owe this call-"

"Ella is in danger, she called me now and was whispering very lowly to save her. I am on my way there I would send you address too." She narrates cutting him off.

"What?" Malik asks. "If she in danger, don't go there alone. I would call some of my-"

"No, please don't call anyone. I beg of you just come there alone."

"Why?"

"I will explain when we get there." Lola says as they were running out of time. "We are running out of time, I will send the address please start coming."

"Alright, please do."

She sends the address to him immediately she ends the call. Lola drives out in a very high speed. She could have sworn that she had never drove in such speed before. When she got to the highway, she turns on her google map and enters Ella's address.

The map was directing her to the place, so as Malik too. Both of them were driving in a very high speed to save Ella. Somehow, they felt a lot of connection with the young girl.

Lola was thinking of what could have actual happened to Ella and Vivian. For Ella to call her, that means something had happened and Vivian wasn't there.

After a lot of overtaking, they finally got to their destination at the same time. Immediately they noticed each other, they alighted from their car in rush.

"This is her house, she is inside this place." Lola whispers.

"But we are not to sure of the condition inside." Malik says . "Make sure you stay behind me, until we are sure there is no one else with her."

"Okay." Lola nods.

Malik's leads the way, holding tight his gun to get ready Incase there is any need to fire. He scanned his environment clearly to ensure they were safe. After a lot of scanning, they finally arrived to the sitting room and saw Ella lying very helpless on the couch.
