THE VISIT

Everyone knew Abdullah was expecting a visitor, he cleaned the house himself and told his mom and older siblings that he was expecting a visitor. They were somehow confused, Abdullah has never invited anyone to his house before neither does he visits people. But for him to finally invite someone home and tell everyone in such happy mood, it means he means a lot to him.

He wasn't really sure of the kind of games she would like but he had already prepared a chess game and a Play station too. Anyone she picks, he is down for it. Everyone close to Ella knows she likes chocolates and ice cream a lot, so he prepared some for her.

When the door bell rings, everyone knew the visitor was around and they looked forward to seeing who the person was. Abdullah ran to the door, and welcomes Ella warmly.

"Welcome." He greets warmly.

"Abdullah, your house is a very beautiful one." Ella says as she admires the building.

"Thank you, come in everyone is waiting for you"

"Everyone?"

"Yes." Abdullah nods.

"Why?" Ella asks a little bit scared.

Abdullah didn't give reply to her question, he just grabs her hand and takes her to the sitting room.

"This is my friend Ella." Abdullah introduce to his mom and two older brothers.

"Good afternoon." Ella greets shyly.

None of them were expecting the visitor to be a girl, was he really excited because he was expecting a female visitor? His actions were so unbelievable.

"How are you doing Ella?" His mom asked with a smile.

"I am fine ma." Ella replies with her head down.

"You look very beautiful." One of the brothers complements.

"Thank you." She blushed.

"Are you from this country?" The second brother asks.

"No, I am from Nigeria."

After the little question which almost appears as an interview, the kids went into Abdullah's room. It reminds her of her life with her parents.

Abdullah entertains her with some chocolates and ice cream, they played both chess and PlayStation. Ella was enjoying herself with Abdullah. Even though she didn't want to come. They wine and dine for a while, Miss Smith bids everyone a good bye and takes her leave.

The moment with Abdullah was a memorable one, she had complained to her aunt that she didn't want to stay long but she ended up staying so long.

Their house reminds her of the lovely times she spent with her parents and grandparents, the chess game too was a strong memory of her father. It was his favorite game.

The locked doors surprised Ella, her aunt didn't tell her she was going somewhere and perhaps her car was still parked in the compound. She picks up her keys and opens the door, there was nothing strange or out of ordinary when she enters the sitting room.

She walks into her room to drop her bag and freshen up when she noticed a small paper and an envelope on her bed. She picks up the paper and carefully reads out the content.

'Ella, I am sorry I had to leave you in such absurd manner. I am so sorry. Please forget about Nigeria and live a good life In Burundi. Make good use of your assets and start afresh. In my wardrobe, you would find a briefcase it has some Burundi currencies and master card in the inner zip. It's a master card to the Burundi bank account I opened in your name. The profits made from your assets would be transferred to the account every month. When you come of age, decide and strategize how to use your assets, but for now keep spending the money as it comes into the account. Please forgive me.'

It sounded like gibberish to her, she couldn't fathom what was written in the letter, she drops it and checks the envelope, it has the documents of all her assets. Was Vivian playing some games with her? Is this a prank or what? Did she really leave?

Ella runs into her room to check, and all her aunt's clothes were gone. Everything, even her bags and shoes.

"What is going on? What is going on?" Ella asks herself with sweats all over her. "Have I wronged her in some ways?"

She couldn't eat or drink anything, she tries her number several times but it wasn't going through. Everything was seeming so dark and bad. Why is it that no one wants to stay with her? Even when Vivian was here she still felt lonely, what about now that she is gone? How was is going to live?

She stood out until midnight hoping her aunt would come home but she didn't. When the cold was getting too much for her, she slowly went inside but didn't look the doors, still hoping her dear aunt would come home.

Once again, she tries calling her and it wasn't going through again. Ella lies on the couch with a lot of pain in her heart, she wished to cry and just get rid of this pain but the tears were not coming out.

She remembers everything she wrote in the letter word for word.

"I don't know why you decide to leave me, but I would like to here the reason when we meet in the future." She whispers in her mind.
