A Unique Blueprint

After receiving instructions from the City Lord, Andrew returns to his house at the outskirt of the city. He lies his back on his bed as he looks up the ceiling. This first project is a heavy burden. It is not like he expected to be the chief or head of this department.

He only wants to make a living for his family as an ordinary worker. He has tried to do menial tasks around the city but it is not very stable and a construction job is really rare in the city. Nevertheless, thankfulness swells in his heart when he saw the announcement. Twenty silver coins a month is already beyond what he receives before.

A woman enters the bedroom as she looks at him lovingly. "How are you?"

This is his wife and his heart aches to know that in the previous months, his family has suffered because of him losing a job. Not only that, they are chased out of the kingdom as the company he works for before is afraid that people will find out the truth.

Andrew wants to take vengeance but it will be really difficult as he is powerless to those with money and talent. It doesn't matter whether he is skilled in his job.

"I will work for the City Lord starting tomorrow." Andrew sits up on the bed when suddenly his wife hugs him.

"I am proud of you!" I am lucky. This is what Andrew tells himself on his mind. He may not have what others treat as blessings but he has someone that wholeheartedly supports him. She is his motivation and inspiration.

"Thank you, honey." Andrew hugs her back.

The woman smiles and soon leaves the room.

Andrew stares at the blueprint and the book. He is asked to brief them with these practices but is it much better than the practices of his previous employer?

He opens up the blueprint and shows a very detailed instructions of how to construct the wall. The wall needs to be ten meters tall as per the instruction but it also has to be seven meters deep for the support.

Andrew is shocked to see a very deep foundation for a building. Normally, for every four-meter tall building, a meter deep foundation is already the standard. His previous company uses a five to two ratio. So he is pretty sure that this will cost a lot. Maybe around one hundred gold coins?

Arthur has only copied this blueprint to the book he has read in the library. One journal has stated that this has stated that this is already a standard ratio. It still depends on the land that it will be built on.

This isn't the only thing that caught Andrew's attention. There are terms that he has never seen before. Is this perhaps talking about the best practices of the book?

He opens up the book that Arthur gave him. It seems like the City Lord is the author of this book. In reality, Arthur has compiled what he has understood to the first ten books he has read. He believes that this book can help guide the Construction Department.

Andrew can see that the explanation are understandable and he cannot help but agree with the points being made. So this is the building code of the city. The City Lord has been misunderstood by the masses. It has probaby taken him a long time to write this. If only he knows that it only took Arthur a few days.

Reading more and learning more about the book and the process being taught in the book, Andrew believes that it will only take one to two months to completely build the city wall.

With this, Andrew's hopes and dreams have been renewed. He may not have the wealth and the talent but he can definitely be known for building this project. He remembers the word that the City Lord has told him. "As the chief of the Construction Department, your name will be on history books as someone who helped the development of Camelot City."

He can see that Arthur is very ambitious to make the city prosperous. He is not just someone who waits for people's taxes to go into his pockets. He is someone who truly wants to protect its citizens.

This is the reason that Andrew has become more confident in working for Arthur. He wants to see what he builds benefits other people, too, and not just make a company rich.

A day has passed.

Every workers that passed the interview have arrived in the castle's conference room. Andrew can be seen on the stage as he discusses what the first project is. "The first project of our department is the construction of the City Wall. Everyone will get different tasks depending on their abilities. For the next few days, I will have to know all of your strengths and weaknesses and you will be briefed with the city's building code and practices."

Seeing how natural of a leader Andrew is, Arthur cannot help but smile. He can see that his investment in creating this department is not so bad. This will be a lot of help in the future development of the city.

Ding.

[You have completed a hidden mission by creating a construction department. You are rewarded with two mission points and one lottery ticket.]

"What?" Arthur, who was previously listening to the department chief, is shocked by the sudden notification from the system.

The system clarifies to Arthur. "As I said before, I am here to help you with your dreams and desires as such I create missions toward that goal. You will be rewarded for all the efforts you put into making your own goals come to fruition. Of course, you will not always be lucky to fulfill a hidden mission."

Arthur understands more as to how the system or the Great Library operates. There will be hidden missions for every main mission that one will encounter. The way you complete the main mission may or may not fulfill the requirements of a hidden mission. Perhaps the criterion for the hidden mission is to not completely rely on the system?

The system replies with a satisfied voice. "You are on the right direction of thinking but that is not exactly the case."

Arthur is in deep thought with what the system has said. In any case, he has received a lottery ticket and he has to use this opportunity.

"Spin the roulette for me." Suddenly, a roulette has appeared and it starts to spin.

When the roulette stops, the system cannot help but stutter. "What is with your insane luck?"

The arrow has stopped between ten thousand gold coins and a magical talisman.
