POV: Annika's Story

[BACK TO DAY 5]

After the events in the store happened, causing Neo to be wounded and infected. Androld, carried Neo's mother Annika who was unconscious outside, followed by his two children Charlotte and Claus, as well as two of the surviving bodyguards.

Attracted by the shots and the smell of blood, the undead pursued Androld and his group.

It suddenly "banged" when one of the bodyguards shot a woman on one of the surrounding vehicles. The woman has just sat her two children in the back seat and was holding a kitchen knife.

In the next moment, however, she already had a bullet in her head and she fell to the ground. The two children in the back seats started screaming when they saw their mother die.

"Get out NOW! or you'll be next!" yelled the bodyguard as he opened the doors and aimed his revolver at the kids.

The children immediately stopped screaming and became completely still. The fear completely paralyzed them and both of them suddenly started peeing themselves.

"Stop! What are you doing!" screamed Charlotte when she saw what the bodyguard had done.

However, the bodyguard did not answer her question but tried to grab the children and throw them out. But before he could do that, one of the children pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed his hand with it as he tried to take her sibling.

"AAAHHH" the bodyguard yelled, pulling his hand back in shock.

"BANG"

"TST"

the revolver made when the bodyguard shot into the car and killed both children.

Charlotte couldn't believe what was happening in front of her eyes and froze.

"Quickly throw them out and check if the woman has the keys with her, we have to leave here quickly." Androld said when he gave Annika to Claus and opened the other doors and threw the two children out in the direction of the undead.

The undead, of course, immediately set to work, cracking open the children's skulls and eating their brains with greedy hands.

Claus became incredibly sick from this sight, just like Charlotte, and even the other bodyguard couldn't see it without gagging.

"There's enough petrol, everyone comes in quickly!" shouted the bodyguard suddenly.

The undead were still chasing them, even though some of them were eating now, therefore in fear everyone decided to get in the car and drive off.

[DAY 6]

Annika only woke up after a day's drive in the car.

'What is... where am I? ... Neo... NEO!' Annika thought as she slowly woke up.

"NEO! NEO! WHERE'S NEO!" screamed Annika suddenly.

Everyone was silent in the car except for Androld, who was in the passenger seat.

"He's dead. That's all that happened," Androld said without looking at Annika.

Annika remained silent for an bit.

"Dead? No... no that can't be... how can he... dead." Annika said with a panicked look on her face while hyperventilating.

"No he's not dead. I don't believe you! How... how can he... no... he... can't NO!" Annika said as she sobbed, tears streaming from her panicked eyes.

"Hmph believe it Annika, the idiot is dead. In the end it's what he deserves for having been such a shame for us. I mean the idiot was really in the military, pah" said Claus derogatory.

Charlotte, on the other hand, said nothing, her head bowed. She was really sad, even if she never showed Neo, she always saw him as part of her family and even liked him a little bit more.

Seeing him die like that... she almost wanted to throw herself into his arms and die with him... almost.

Therefore, when she heard Annika's outburst, she tried to hug and calm Annika. But Annika just pushed her away and held her head.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" she suddenly screamed in the car.

"Annika calm down!" yelled Androld in vain.

The group was still in a critical situation. They had to drive through the east district due to ruined roads full of the undead, and they're not sure what dangers await them.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Annika continued to yell.

But Annika doesn't stay still and every time someone tries to get her still she bites and scratches them with full force.

In the end it was Claus who opened the car door while driving and threw Annika out. Then he closed the door and the car drove on.

[DAY 7]

Annika injured her head when she got out of the car and lay on the street for a whole day. In the end she was found by a group of seven men.

After she checked her pulse and found that she was still alive, they took Annika with them.

...

Annika woke up a few hours later. She was completely naked and you can imagine what the men who found Annika did to her.

Annika lay on the cold floor and next to her were shards of glass from a window above her that was broken.

"Guys look at who's awake here." said one of the men suddenly in the room.

"Aah our beautiful princess is finally awake, I mean she was perfect even when she was asleep, but how is she when she's awake?" said another man in the group who got up and undressed.

Annika had almost no strength to even get up. But when her arms were pressed to the ground by the man when he laid on her, she could no longer resist at all and the man did what he wanted with her.

Annika was just silent and looked to her right side with a blank stare.

Just as she did, life suddenly returned to her eyes. She somehow saw Neo right in front of her. Not as a 21 year old but as a child of 10 years of age. Standing behind him were two others of the seven men, smiling obnoxiously in her direction.

"Mom... you must live... you must survive... kill." said Neo's 10 year old version in his childlike voice.

"NEO!" Annika suddenly screamed.

"Shut up, stop screaming otherwise AHH..." he said, but was interrupted by Annika when she bit his ear and squeezed it so hard that the entire ear bled.

The man then let her go and wanted to get away from her, but before he could do that, Annika slit the man's throat with one of the glass panes next to her.

Annika then got up and ran with who knows what strength towards the two other men who were just undressing.

She also slit the throat of one of them quickly. But the other reacted and stopped the blade with his palm.

"AAHHHH... you damn Bi**ch I'm going to..." the man screamed, but before he could finish his sentence, he was stabbed in the neck by another shard of glass that Annika was holding in her other hand. Afterwards the man fell to the ground holding his wound ans slowly bleed to death.

Annika was breathing fast and irregularly and she was damn cold. She had never been so exhausted in her life before.

"Mom... not yet... quickly take this man's gun and kill the others outside the door." said the childlike figure of Neo, who suddenly reappeared and pointed to one of the two men.

Annika acted quickly and took the loaded pistol, but then suddenly the door opened and one of the other men came in.

"Haha has she woken up yet?" he asked

"BANG"

Did it when Annika shot the man in the face, answering his question. After that she opened the door and saw the rest of the three men there, all sitting around a small fire eating canned soup.

"WHAT THE HELL"

"BANG"

"TST"

Made the gun when Annika killed all three. After that, she dropped the gun on the ground and her whole body suddenly started to tremble.

She was so damn tired and her body felt so heavy, she wanted to fall right on the floor and sleep forever.

But then it came again, the childlike voice of Neo.

"Mom! Don't sleep, you have to get dressed! Then take something to eat and the guns and ammunition from the men. Then go up a floor or two. You can rest there!" screamed Neo in his childlike voice.

Annika suddenly regained her strength and did what Neo told her to do. When she arrived one floor higher, Annika barricaded herself in a room with a chest of drawers in front of the door.

She ate some of the food and offered most of it to Neo who was by her side. However, he refused and said his mother had to eat for now.

Neo's 10 year old version and Annika then lay down together on a bed in the room and fell asleep.

[DAY 9]

After Annika woke up, she spent most of her time with her son Neo and survived mainly on some food she still had.

But they would soon ran out, therefore Neo told her in his child's voice to go to one of the small supermarkets downstairs. She needs water and food to survive.

Annika agreed with Neo, but only if he waits for her here, he's too small and she doesn't want him to get hurt.

Neo agreed with his mom and promised to stay in the room.

Annika then went to one of the supermarkets and found some canned soup there. But she didn't have much luck in the end and was caught by a gang of criminals.

She pulled out her gun, but the criminals also had some and Neo's voice suddenly sounded in Annika's head.

"Mom not! They will shoot you otherwise. Go with the men, then you will live for now. We can always escape then... please!" Neo said in his childlike voice.

Annika trusted her son, who apparently snuck after her even though he had promised not to do so.

[DAY 10]

Annika has arrived at a kind of gang that mainly has some female prisoners in their basements.

But Annika, who looked so good even though she was covered in dirt and hadn't showered for days, was spared the cage. She will be a gift to the boss, so no one else should touch it.

For now she does some cleaning chores and otherwise can get one meal a day.

[DAY 12]

Annika got more and more familiar with the place and her job was easy. But in the afternoon of the day she involuntarily heared two prisoners talking about a former undercover policeman who was supposed to be here and trying to free the prisoners and lead them to a safe Camp somewhere.

Annika was very happy about this news, not because of her, but because of the other prisoners.

Annika has noticed it a few times now, the women and children down here are regularly claimed by a bunch of men and some even die here and there. No one cares about the weak here, so Annika decided to help the prisoners instead.

She stole a master key to the cells and the back door of the building from a drawer and gave it to the undercover cop. He offered to take her with him, but Annika refused.

Neo was clearly against it and tried to convince his mother not to do that. She would only settle her own death.

But Annika just smiled at Neo and stroked him through his little rude face and said: "If you were one of the prisoners I wish you were free too."

Neo didn't answer and just looked at his mother.

[DAY 13]

Today a group of prisoners escaped together with some traitors of the gang, one could quickly conclude that they must have had a master key to escape.

The first suspect was Annika, who had just arrived in the gang, but that didn't make any sense. If that was true then she would have fled with them, wouldn't she?

So it couldn't be Annika but maybe someone who hates the gang. Therefore, they interrogated and tortured prisoners, but before anything escalated, Annika suddenly confessed to having given the master key. She doesn't want others to suffer because of her behavior, no matter what.

...

[DAY 17]

Annika has been brutally tortured for the past four days.

From morning to night everyone was allowed to live out any fantasy they had with Annika.

Cut off her fingernails.

Removing her leg while she was awake.

Rip out her eye with their bare hands and many more abominations...

At Annika's side however was always Neo, who tried to comfort his mother in his 10-year-old form.

But even when Annika saw Neo, her gaze was still blank and over time little Neo disappeared.

Then it happened on day 17. The cell door opened again and Annika's view was empty again.

But suddenly she heard a familiar voice and found herself in the arms of someone who hugged her tightly.

"Mother... mother I'm sorry, I'm so late. I'm here now, everything will be fine." said a familiar voice.

Only then did she recognize the face of her son she was looking into. He was crying and shaking slightly as he held her.

Annika smiled slightly when she saw Neo and said with her last strength:

"...am I home? Neo my darling, I love you."

The last thing she saw was Neo's worried, loving look, whose eyes were full of tears.

Then everything went dark...
