Before Ryan could say anything to Quentin, there was a knock on the door. They all looked toward the door with the same feeling, wondering who was on the other side. Ryan looked at Natalie and saw her cringe, then stiffen as the knocking came again. It was easy to see that she was overly anxious about who was on the other side of the door.


As if feeling his gaze, Natalie turned to them, and her eyes begged them silently to protect her. Natalie was worried that it was Frank on the other side of the door. Not that Ryan blamed her after all that had happened.


A wave of overwhelming joy filled Ryan at the amount of trust she was giving them. He was so happy that Natalie would immediately look to them for help. He may not have known her for long, but he knew Nyrissa, and that was enough for him. The moment Nyrissa had agreed to be their wife, Natalie had become family, and there was nothing that he and Quentin wouldn’t do for family.
