Chapter 17

"Where the hell have you been?", Mai shouted as soon as I knocked on the door to her hotel room.

"Italy", I mumbled and went straight to the little fridge to get something to drink.

"Italy, don't tell me that he called you to execute Pablo", Mai said while she closed the door and then stood in the middle of the room.

"He did", I simply said and turn we'd around while gulping down the water. She looked at me with clear concern in her eyes, when I just blinked at her she sighed and turned around herself. Then she crossed her arms and sat down on the little bench that was placed opposite the bed.

"What are you gonna do now? Stefano will not leave you alone you know that", she said and I nodded.

I know, I was relieved that I could spend some time with Julie and got back before he glued himself to my ass again. I told dad to get him an assistant, it always functions when I say someone needs to concentrate more on their shooting skills", I said and cracked a smile. Mai did the same.

"So we just hope it will be a newbie that has to follow you around?", I nodded again and for a few seconds we sat there in silence.

"We still have to be careful, especially with the Theerapanyakul Family and Max", I said and this time she nodded.

"You also have to cope with Sony, whatever happened between you two it is very important to her. She called me at least twenty times in the last two days", I sighed and closed my eyes.

Sitting down on the bed I looked into the room without fixating anything specific.

"I know, I don't even know why she is so obsessed with me. I'm not attractive or anything, I don't have something special about me", I let myself fall backwards and converted my look towards the ceiling.

"Don't think that low on yourself. The way you act impresses a lot of people, you just don't notice it. You do know that the less you think of yourself, the less you will notice that people are actually interested in you", she said and I just gave it an inner nod.

We stayed like that for a while, just the sound of the laptop on the desk was audible. It was a wonder that it hadn't collapsed already, I never saw it turned of. There was always something Mai working on and so was the laptop always working on something.

My eyes went to the side and I saw her sitting there and looking toward the device. I knew she wouldn't ask what happened. She would wait until I tell her. I sighed and looked back at the ceiling before closing my eyes.

"She kissed me"

"What?"

"At the club, I grabbed her to get more infos about Max and Macau and she said I smell good and then she kissed me", I said and opened my eyes again.

"She did what!?", she now screamed before she found place on my lap and her face directly above mine.

"You heard me!", I snapped at her.

"What did you do?"

"Nothing, I was frozen and after a while she just went away"

"And you didn't talk about it?", I shook my head.

"I drank a few more drinks and the next day I told her I had a black out, but I think she don't believes me so I'm avoiding her"

"You are an Idiot!", she barked at me.

She didn't had to tell me this....

"I know"

"And you are a coward"

"I know"

"And you're so dumb"

"I know"

"And-"

" I know!", I said and sat up- not caring a single bit if she still was planted in my lap.

"I really want to hit you right now"

"I know!", I said again and looked at her with big eyes and raised brows.

She sighed and looked around the room, then her eyes landed back on mine with a look that I couldn't quite coordinate. It was pity because she knew why I have been a coward but at the same time it wasn't pity because she knew I hated being pitied.

"Don't think I'm in denial or something", i muttered and she nodded.

"I know"

"I accepted that Ken is no longer here but I don't know if I'm ready for someone new in my life to take such an important role", she nodded and closed her arms around me.

"But you know that you can't just leave her like that, she deserves an answer", she said and I nodded.

"But she's gonna ask questions", I mumbled into her bosom.

"You can't blame her. We didn't talked about that but I'm pretty sure she knows something is going on there, something that isn't 'work'. You may not have realised it, but she looked at you for nearly every second- every time we met"

I leaned back and postured my weight on my arms, looking up to her.

"I know, that's why I was scared to approach her. I know that there is a very serious part inside her, one I shouldn't underestimate", I said.

Sony may seem like an overhyped Girl that likes to get to know every one - one with a light and simple character. She wasn't, she didn't show it very much and she won't stutter on her words, but it was visible in her eyes.

I was pretty sure she wasn't even aware of what she could actually do with that ability and I was happy that she seemed to be coming from a normal family.

If she'd grown up in my circles, she would have been to so many dangerous places, in so many dangerous situations, with even more dangerous people.

I don't know how much she had observed and how much she understood what she had observed, if she did then she could be as dangerous to me as she was to my enemies.

She would be in danger and I didn't wanted her to be in danger. Never, she was so precious.

But she would be in danger, the more she came in contact with me.

If we became something fixed, I would automatically drag her into my world.

"I will talk to her"

"Okay, just be honest. She knows about you and Ken, she will understand it."

I nodded.

I had to finish this thing, so I could let Ken Rest In Peace.

"I really don't know what happened between you both, but it must be severe enough if you ask me where she is just to sneak in", Max greeted me.

I just rolled my eyes and opened the door more to get inside.

While I closed it behind me Max went into the room and let himself down on the small Sofa.

I stripped of my shoes and hung up m jacket before I joined him there.

"Whatever you did, you hurt her very much. I'm pretty sure that even you noticed it already- she likes you", he said. I nodded.

"I know and I'm planning to talk to her, but I had to set priorities. Not because she is not important to me, I'm definitely attracted to her, but I have to clear some things up, so you and her are save", Max nodded.

"At first I wanna talk about Macau if you're fine with that", I said and he immediately tensed.

"You don't have to tell me what's exactly going on between you two, I just wanna tell you that I'm not against it", he nodded.

"It was hard to decide you know? I could have told you to get away from him, maybe that would have been easier. But you are old enough to make your own decisions. I'm not angry over Macau, I'm not even angry about Vegas. But his dad still killed Ken and we both have to decide for ourself how we deal with it", Max nodded again.

"It's kind of complicated with Macau, he has a difficult personality you know", max started and I nodded. It wasn't my business as losing as he didn't put Max in even more danger than he already was.

"When you told me who he was, I just made the decisions to stay with him- no matter how hard it would be- but this threw me back", he said and I nodded.

"I'll get one more thing done this week and I think then we should just talk with them. You should talk to Macau and then we talk to Vegas. It's not really there business, but if they find out who you are between the lines the trust might be in danger", I said -definitely aware how it sounded.

"And you need that trust", I nodded.

"I don't want it to look like I'm using it, but we have to. We are alone here, all we have is Mai and we need every positive connection we can get- especially the Theerapanyakul Family", is said and we both just sat there in silence.

"I know"

"I know you know"

"What happened between you and Sony?", Max then asked.

"She kissed me", I simply said and Max widened his eyes.

"And then?!"

"I didn't react and then she was gone in the crowd. I didn't know what to do so I drank a lot more and jut said I had a black out", he made a face at that.

"Don't look at me like that, Mai already scolded me", he nodded approvingly.

That little brat....

"You gotta talk to her", he said and I nodded.

"I know, but I have to get that one then done first"

And I had to consider my feelings for Ken, Otherwise it wouldn't be fair....
