Betrayal

Tenbris and Levi were having a fruitful conversation about their lives, understanding each other, and forming bonds that are only created during a war.

A good amount of time had passed and the number of people around them was growing at an unnaturally slow rate, slowly and briefly Levi grew hesitant and worried.

"Where are they, lost or something?"

"I don't know they should be here by you, were they possibly spotted by the enemy!?" Tenbris was now worried.

Both Levi and Tenbris had lost their cool at the moment.

"That should not be the case, the enemy shouldn't be here in the first place."

"And why do you have that assumption, do have some secret intel on them that you haven't told us yet."

Levi had just carelessly let out a part of his weakness.

"Yes, We have our spies working in their people but we don't wish to share their name."

Levi tried to cover up this mistake by giving Tenbris false information. This was the best response he could come up with now but the idea of doubt was already installed in the back of Tenbris's mind.

"I refuse to believe that if you have any info them then you shouldn't be in this situation at all. Their were and are so much better and different things you should be doing right now."

Tenbris was quick enough on catching Levi's bluff and question him on it.

"I work under the commander's orders, I have no more information to give you about this topic."

Levi said in an authoritative tone while looking Tenbris straight in the eyes.

"That's A big change of tone from Captain to Commander's dog."

Tenbris gave a straightforward and hard replay, he knew if he got any soft the few people around him would never respect him in the future. Even if there only a handful of people, it was a matter of honour for him.

"Shut up and find where the other men have gone." Levi tried to shift the subject of the argument to reduce the growing tension in the situation.

Tenbris didn't back off, in fact, his eyes grew angrier.

"Well Levi I think you should reveal the information, you are hiding or it might be no a good condition for you overall."

"shit..."

Levi released that he was in the same situation as the British captain,

surrounded by unknown people with no proper support. Levi had yet taken another foolish decision of not bringing his men into the search just for his pride.

"You have no power over me in this situation, hurting or killing me would give you no advantage. This act of mutiny against us would just give you worse treatment."

Levi fought back with proper arguments but Tenbris was now controlling the situation.

"All I need is enough information of your act here, I am not directly acting against you. I just want to know how much the people how we are supposed to fight with lives with and getting money after the battle are hiding from us."

"You all will receive your payment fairly, just act as we say, extra details just add mud to the mind."

"There is no mud in details for a strategist, you can think about it. that way."

"If you want details, talk to Commander about them, now end this talk right here."

Levi was pinned and made a desperate attempt to end the conversation but Tenbris seeing his chance made his ace move.

"You know Captain Levi, I think you are not capable of severing the military."

'HUh,..."

"You know if you really had to sacrifice so much pride breaking your military rules coming to this place at least bring some security with you. You can't trust people you just recruited, that too of foreign origin."

"What the hell? how to know about the rules." Levi was surprised by the Suuden turn of events and was genuinely confused.

"Check the left pocket of your breeches." Levi search his left pocket to find a small device, so small that you couldn't even feel it right with all the supplies and guns you carry.

"What is this?!"

"Well it's a small invention but a big gift from to the world. We call this technology 'Radio'"

"How does this work?! It can read your thoughts?"

"Hahaha" Tenbris started laughing in joy on seeing Levi's thinking on the device and brought out a gun from his back pocket.

"You don't need to know that now, all you need to know is that on my signal, all the missing people will rush towards the Lynx camp and tell them about the situation."

At that very moment, all the people around them jumped at Levi and beat him down.

Blood came out through Levi's jaw as Tenbris kept him at gunpoint, standing only a few meters away.

'You Bastard!!!!"

"Keep your mouth shut and tell me all the info on your country or die."

"I'll rather die than tell you anything."

The situation was now a total disadvantage for Levi and he had no idea how to protect his allies in this situation.
