The Twisted Words

Jane's scream of pain and anger was halted by a man forcefully closing her mouth, looking directly into her rage-filled eyes with a sinister look.

"I think you understand the situation quite well, your words don't matter. Give me an answer which one will live!"

Jane's scream stopped and she didn't resist anymore so the Man in white freed her.

"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.."

She kept repeating 'i don't know'.Her eyes were filled with tears and becoming red as they moved down, carrying with them the fresh and old blood on Thea's face.

The Man standing in front of her had a change of expression, he now looked at Jane with a sense of pity in his eyes. He moved closer to Jane and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Look, Young girl, I know women can't bear this blood and burdens of war but if they sent you here, Have enough guts to make tough decisions."

His words looked kind and soft as they were spoken in a pleasant tone but had twisted meanings. His words were to put pressure on Jane's mind, further destroying her mental health.

"Come on! Choose you are a soldier right, you can't keep crying."

One enemy was encouraged by another enemy.

The mysterious Man was trying motivate her, but it didn't help Thea right now. All it did was further push her sanity, It was like the Man was setting up a standard with his words.

Soon, Jane stopped weeping, and her composure seemed to come back. She looked tired and needed some rest.

"Okay, that took a long while but now we can get back to our task."

The Man gave Jane no time even to breathe and kept speaking.

"Well, we have decided that two of you will and the other four will die."

Jane didn't look up. She kept looking down, lost all connection to the real world, and her mind didn't support her body anymore.

"Okay, you look perfect for one of the two jobs-

The first one is -Go back to your camp and inform them about our entry here but

don't forget to tell your commander to hurry up, or we need to take some strict actions."

The last words had a cold, harsh and severe tone.

"The second one is to go bring reinforcements from your country, it was reason to come here, most probably."

Looking into Thea's lifeless eyes as he lifted her face, he asked the same haunting question.

"Which one will you do, my lady?"

The tone again shifted to casual and light as the Man asked Jane to choose her fate.

"S..S..S.."

"Ohh, you choose the second one! Finally, a choice made by the team leader. To think which of the rest four goes back will be decided by us yourselves. Please take the boat; we have prepared for you."

He let go of Thea's face as he found amusement in finally receiving a proper answer.

Jane moved her hands, they were shaking heavily, and she looked like she barely lifted them.

"What are you trying to tell me here?"

"S..S.SS"

She pointed at another female soldier who was tied to the ropes. She was still passed out. Before fainting, Jane had seen a glimpse of her trying to fight back against the death ahead.

"Oh, I see, that woman there is assigned the second one. Hmmm... I entirely agree with this, You aren't in a position to travel on a boat. But still, protecting another female and yourself isn't a bit selfish."

"S..ss"

"This has taken too long! just get over your stupid games already! Arthur."

Another man wearing the came to a cloak as 'Arthur' called out to him and ended the ordeal.

"Yes, we are done. This lady goes back to her camp to the commander and the other lady is sent back to her homeland but the rest...."

Arthur stopped speaking and brought out a gun. It was a heavy shotgun capable of firing four bullets back to back.

"Rest in Peace."

"...s.."

In a instant, Arthur blew the heads off the remaining three soldiers on the go. Blood and brains spattered all over Jane but neither the loud voice of the bullets nor the blood on her face made any difference,

she kept trying to say something.

"Huh!! What is going on?!!"

The noise of three bullets woke the other female officer, who got confused and terrified of the situation immediately.

Seeing all the gore ahead, she vomitted with terror rolling on her face.

"WE don't have time for formalities! Just put them in their place."

The other Man showed his restlessness and Arthur agreed to it, by nodding his head.

They picked up the female officer and took her outside while she was in shock and confusion while Jane stayed there.

Soon two more unidentified people in white cloaks came to her and picked her up. Without a word picked her up and laid them on one of horses they had flins.

They released the horse and it ran back towards the camp without any command.

Another element of chaos had entered the war and it was just the beginning.

While lying lifeless on the horse, Jane finally completed her words.

"S...Save... ME."
