Harbour Brawl

"I need to take advantage of this. What can I get?"

Yuuka was looking at the battle from afar; the Asphodel ships were making good progress from their side, but it was still impossible for them to be successful without any external help.

Yuuka sat on his horse and moved near the port but still trying to maintain a reasonable distance, and following him were dark clouds. The sky was turning, and winds were getting speedy.

Yuuka moved close to the port, left his horse behind, and now ran across the harbour back, hiding from the enemy's eye and finding something he could use to help the boats reach the port.

He hid behind the walls of the first watchtower at the edge of the harbour and saw some soldiers and workers around the gates.

They were tired, and Yuuka tried to eavesdrop on as much information as he could. The soldier spoke while taking deep breaths.

"It is the last carriage. I will be going back. You are on your own, look out and tell us if the enemy has arrived from the capital."

"A carriage?"

What could a carriage bring to the battlefield at such a moment? It couldn't be bullet or cannon shells. For the size of the cannon, it wasn't possible to bring a good amount in carriages.

Another argument was why the carriage was brought to the watchtowers and the workers were still around the carriage.

"I need to get my hands on his rifle."

Yuuka had his special pistol with him, but firing a single shot could alert the whole port about his presence, so he needed a loud silence to get a good hit.

*Boom

A loud sound of an explosion surrounded the port; the reason for the blast was unknown to Yuuka, but as he heard the explosion, his ears began ringing.

"Now."

Instantly absorbing the effect of the explosion, he moved in front of the three workers and one soldier and pointed his gun at them.

The three workers had their eyes closed and on their ears while the soldier was looking at the other side, seeing what had transpired, while his hands covered his ears.

"If the blast had such a solid effect on far distance, it must be impossible for the nearby soldiers to hear for a while."

Seeing his chance, Yuuka instantly shot the three in their hands and,

"What...."

The soldier had recovered from the effect and had listened to the shot's noise. Yuuka instantly pointed his gun at the soldier.

"!!!"

Before the soldier could react, Yuuka shot him and ran towards him in an instant ran towards him before his body could fall.

"Thank you."

A laid the body down and took his rifle tied to his uniform,

"What the hell happened?!"

The port was covered in smoke, and the visibility became very low. Still, it was sure that something outstanding had happened to Asphodel for the moment.

"Pull back all cannons!!"

The soldier at the port began to pull back their cannons as one of the front cannons was highly overheated and exploded when hit by a round shot from the boat's volleys.

The distance between them wasn't that much for them to save from the incoming attacks; they needed to take some steps back and see that their problem had just begun.

Milize was still standing on the battlefield, trying to see and coordinate the soldiers.

"The cannons are left in very small quantities. We can't last very long with them."

The attack supplies were running out, and it wasn't nearly time they needed to hold the enemy off, So they needed to come up with some other ways.

"Don't worry. I have countermeasures ready. Fire the cannons in only short intervals. Try to get them to try to push forward. I have a surprise for them and get all the medic you can get using the carriages."

The soldiers Milize had were short in number, and she needed as many as possible on the battlefield for her survival at the short and by her survival. She could endure that it wasn't a victory for Asphodel until she survived.

The Asphodel forces led by Maya rejoiced in happiness as they brought down an attacking cannon, giving them more morale boost.

Maya was standing on the deck of the front ship. He did not celebrate as he knew a battle wasn't over for anyone yet.

"We need a breakthrough; bringing down each cannon won't get us anywhere. We need a breakthrough and get a way to land on the soil. That alone is our current goal."

Maya knew that the battle still found turn upside down any second, so he wanted to end the battle while the any was weak.

"Send a small ship to flank the side of the port, and the other ships shoot the ports in complete barrages. Don't let them get a single hint of the boat until it reaches all close.
