Shining Light

Maya was being pushed down badly by Milize. First, she crushed his attack and now destroyed him in the offensive.

"How are the cannons so effective? We should be at enough distance to reduce their effects by a far margin. All of that, along with the material of the boat. Why is it working?"

While Maya had shifted his position from leading the front ship to a secure backward ship, it backfired on him as his vision was cut off from the battlefield.

"They have pushed all the cannons near the edge of the port!"

A soldier from the big front boat shouted the information at the smaller ships,

"That the hell! Do they not fear us blowing up the barrels?!"

If the cannons were brought right at the port's outer edges, they would be entirely open for their own barrel's explosive radius and an easier target for enemy cannons' attacks, yet there they were.

"Don't fear; get the cannon shots ready; they are at the front. We must blow up the barrels and make a straightforward way for us to go."

Maya made a desperate call, also the best cause of action. Still, one more thing stopped Asphodel's victory road. Nature.

"!!!"

Suddenly, a bright, sharp ray of light busted from the sky and fell right on top of the centre of the fortress. The lightning from the thunderclouds strikes the Asphodel ship.

"...."

In a blink of a brightness went all away, but what it left behind was even more terrifying;

the ship's mast had been burning in bright flames, and the mast column broke from the middle and fell upon the soldiers standing on the deck.

'Ahhhhh!!!"

Soldiers standing on the ships jumped into the water to avoid being engulfed in the flames of the ship. All the while, the waves kept the ships trembling, making many feel sea sickness.

"Get to your positions! Cut the ropes that were attached to the ship."

Maya quickly moved to get everything in control, giving orders to cut away any connection from the burning ship; his action and face didn't give away his inner thoughts,

"Why is this happening?"

Maya was feeling despair. He was a bright kid who would find a way out of even the most significant problems, which became his pride and will. Maya always had answers to the most challenging questions. Still, today, when he needed the most, he couldn't explain the situation.

"The ship is sinking; push it away."

The large ship slowly began to move in front of the fortress as it collapsed upon itself, sinking into the running waters and leaving behind open Asphodel ships to be bombarded.

Maya's hands were moving closer and closer toward the flare in his pocket. Lost to despair and his broken pride, Maya began to surrender as an option; being a disgrace was one of the last things he thought about; at least it would end things for him without any killings.

"ah.."

As Maya as the ship sunk, Maya was in direct sight of the port, he could see the illuminated cannons from a distance, but something struck in his eye.

"What is that?"

A small yet sharp twinkling light was coming out of a port that fell directly into his eye; as he observed the light twinkle.

He saw a pattern—a hidden message, enough for him even fight in this challenging situation.

"So, that's how it is, huh...? Something big is going to happed today."

Within the darkness of the windy night, as the largest central ship sunk and Apsdhodel's defence fell apart, Maya saw the bright light, bringing him out of despair of darkness.

Meanwhile, at the port, the defending lynx's army and their commander Milize wore expressions of joy as the broke through the enemy's first line of defence.

"Even mother nature is on our side, and we will win this for sure."

Sweet talk about the victory was already brewing amount the soldiers; Milize looked at the scene with a severe expression as Anju came to her side again.

"You aren't happy? We have gotten a big lead in this battle. I am sure, cracking a smile won't be too much of a presumption."

"There is something that is bothering me."

"What is the problem?"

"Even the Asphodel ship was burning while the ship was being destroyed and even sometime after that. It felt like somebody was projecting light at the boats."

"Projecting lights? What does projecting light even mean? Even if the soldier hid, there might have done something, but what does projecting light on the boats-"

*Boom

"!!!!"

Suddenly, a gush of flame rose in front of the port as another large explosion illuminated the port in bright light.

"What?!!"

. An explosion caused considerable noise, and a massive explosion occurred at the front of the port. Blowing away, the cannon set in front along with the soldiers

"Yuukaaaaa!!!!!"

Milize shouted at the top of her lungs as he turned around and faced the watchtower, all while Anju looked in utter shock and fear.

"Yuuka is here?"
