Lies

Edward was waiting for Thomas to come out of his room. It took a while, many people checked in and out. Edward's patience was being put to the test.

"Mr Edward, It seems Mr Thomas is coming."

As Edward heard Wednesday saying the words, he looked at the man dressed in a proper suit, along with a hat.

He had a strong body build, a light beard and blue eyes. He held no suitcase and was very his gloves.

" It seems my time is up."

Edward got up from his seat and waited until Thomas finally reached the counter, Edward stood in his way to greet him by bowing his head.

"Going morning. Mr Thomas, I am Edward."

Edward offered a handshake which Thomas quickly agreed to.

" Yes, I know your face very well, Mr Edward."

Thomas's voice was quite mature, he gave an intimidating aura to everyone around him. His large body structure and sharp eyes relayed his strength to everybody around him.

" I made a lot of trouble for you last night. I am sorry for that."

" No need to apologize, It was my mistake not recognizing you at the station."

" I am expecting my ride outside the motel."

"It's very well, I make my payment and we can leave right now.".

Wednesday noticed how the two were very similar in many ways.

After Thomas completed his payment, the two went off the sat down in their carriage for the trip to the military centre of Vati.

The ride at the carriage began the driver had already prepared the horses for an early exit.

The ride continued for a while and the two men did not speak a single word to each other.

But as the carriage reached the farmland only a few miles away from the military centre, Thomas initiated a conversation,

" Well, Mr Edward-"

" Cut the "Mr" part out, it annoys me very much."

" Ok then, Edward. I saw you at the station last day, I was thinking about calling you out but I didn't."

"Is that because of that girl? "

Thomas nodded and explained,

" Well, doing such a thing in public is an easy task. You either have all confidence in the world or no shame and class. Which one did you have?"

Thomas asked a straight question to understand, the person Lucius had put so much trust into.

" Neither, I did it because she wanted me to do it public and don't care what people think of me."

" Oh... It's the second one, I see. I think you were better than that Edward."

"A lot about my standards, can we have a bit of you telling more about yourself."

Edward was quite interested in Thomas as a person, for me he looked like a royal Or from a high-class family.

" About me? Well you see, I don't like to talk much about myself. "

Saying this Thomas lit a cigar and puffed it off, releasing a lot of smoke in the carriage.

" Well, I want to judge whether the person in front of me is worthy of my respect."

Edward opened one of the carriage windows to let the smoke out.

" Well, Edward. Respect is earned by actions of the present not by telling the fairy tail of the past. I don't respect some who just have a past of glory going for them."

" Quite an indirect way to way, you have no respect for me."

Thomas smiled at Edward's words,

" You are good at some things at least but act more tactfully next time."

" What is your reason for making such harsh judgements on me?"

Edward was quite surprised at how critical, Thomas was about Edward's behaviour and actions.

There was something Edward did not know about.

"Let's be frank, Lucius is a good friend of mine and I am a worker of my nation. Lucius has put so much trust in you know, that you have no idea."

"...."

Edward was dumbfounded by hearing such high prospects for him, Lucius had put so much trust in him. When and why?

"He told me, how much of devil you fighting enemies we can't defeat. You are essential for the kingdom to win this war but here you are hiring prostitutes and doing such classless action before adopting a child-"

Thomas's words were quite authentic but the last sentence flipped Edward's entire world.

"What type of father you will be? I can't imagine it being any good."

'Adopting a child?....' the words resonated inside Edward's head.

"What did you say?"

"Looks like I struck a nerve but it's the reality you nee-"

Thomas couldn't even finish his sentence, Edward grabbed his collar and pushed him onto the floor.

"What did you just say?!!! Repeat the last sentence!!!"

As Thomas's face ground against the floor, he tried to look up at Edward's face.

" You are quite the devil."

The face Thomas saw was not a human, evil just hatred and denial filled the face, eyes are red and his hands were shaky.

No, it was as if Edward was way more human than Thomas had imagined, but this strength of not something Thomas could overwhelm.

" I am saying it for the last time. Tell me, what did Lucius tell you about?!!"

The driver has already stopped the cart after the shouting and sudden movement inside the carriage.

Inside Thomas had no choice but to answer Edward's questions.

" I was told you were going to adopt a kid from the military centre to promote the adoption of war orphans."

"What fucking son of A ...."

Hearing this Edward let go of Thomas and sat back in his seat clutching his hair and telling himself.

" Calm down....calm down ...calm down ...calm down..."

He was no longer a stranger to the girl he was about to meet, to her she has already gotten a father and Edward...

" I have to be the foster father of my daughter..."
