Decision

"What are you talking about?! Who was punished and where?"

"The guys sent me on the wall to make sure there was no way of getting in or out of the city. I heard people screaming and shouting outside. They were fighting, and I used the watchtower to get a view. I looked at the people and they were pointing at the grand church. I turned my spyglass towards it and-"

"-Stop!! Not a word! Submit me your spyglass and not a word about it to anyone. You hear me?" Edward snatched the spyglass from his hand and towered over him.

"You didn't tell anyone about the punishment, didn't you?"

The thief swung his head, " I only reported this first to my savoir, but you seem angry."

"I am not angry at you. I am angry at the enemy, and please for my sake. Do not tell anyone about this. Okay!"

The thief only nodded in response when Edward ran for the city gate. "Make sure to visit the church today. I have freed your friend, Thomas, make sure to go with him." Arthur did an action so public and blasphemous.

Edward ran and ran, and his feet and arm felt the pain, and there were more important things he needed to do. He reached the walls which towered over him.

Edward collected tables and wood from the shop that were somehow unhurt in the attack. He collected the table and wood and climbed over the wall, sitting in a squatting position. He saw military men trying to calm down people who wanted to know the other side's whereabouts.

This attention shifted to the grand cathedral standing in the city's centre. Tall over 30m, Edward could see clearly from the wall, but what shook him was something above the cathedral.

He zoomed on his spyglass and looked as if his worst fears had come true. Thomas's incapacitated body hung using wires from the cross on the grand cathedral public to anyone who could see in the storm as a display for the world. Like, God had hung the anti-Christ.

Arthur had set an example of events that would occur if people betrayed his wishes.

The punishment was a Vile, humiliating and unforgiving punishment for the sin of crossing against him.

" I will kill every single one of those." Rage filled Edward as his finger clutched to form his fist. He knew the ranked officers would stop the performance stage from happening if he told them what happened inside the lawless city. The minister was a subject he would deal with later.

"I need to save him now. I have 1 hour before the sun rises, and Thomas becomes a public display for everyone. I have rescued him before the folk gain more attention. Some might already have seen it, but it doesn't matter. He had to rescue Thomas, and whether he was dead or alive was not yet known. But Edward needed to bring him down.

His battle was now with the returning ships bringing payment back to the country, a war to save his daughter, a war to protect his connection like Isabella, a war against the spies of Axum and Saxony hidden in their ranks and a war to burn the assassin brotherhood to the ground.

He had failed today, but the future was more uncertain and forgiving. The war would never end if the kingdoms remained divided. He swore an oath to himself as he jumped rood to the roof.

"I will unite the five kingdoms."

Arthur sat freely with his team of three inside a well-lit and warm room. They dried their bodies and cloaks from the rain. Two men and Raya sat with him on the table and ate the beef Arthur cooked.

Arthur held two pieces of paper and stared at them while grinning like a madman seeing the two. Raya looked at Arthur and sensed his joy.

"We have the city map for the royal capital's walls and now for the lawless city. Tell me, the next hint take us to where?" Raya asked Arthur.

"To Axum, The city of Polaris is our next destination. I wonder if the builder had known of the future and given each kingdom. Still, there is no opposition against us in Axum. So, winning there will not be an issue." Arthur answered.

He raised his glass of wine in the air proposing a toast. The other two men raised their glasses in the air too but Raya did not.

"Forgive me. I do not drink anything when I am bruised from up to down. So, I have to pass on this." Arthur gave a dejected look at first but brushed it off sooner enough.

While Raya clutched the earpiece in her hands, she had listened to some conversations she shouldn't have, and now the seeds of doubt were planted.
