Leaning on him

"What happened there?" He asked.

"I didn't see that tree." She replied tiredly.

There's no difference between highway and path. It's all the same. If you aren't a frequent driver of that road, it's hard to drive your car on such a road, especially at night. It's not a surprise for her to crash her car. But having a conscience, she wasn't driving fast, and that's why she wasn't injured that badly.

"Why are you here?"

"Had some work out of the city."

"And you choose this time to come back?" He can't tell how much he was shocked by her presence with that crashed car.

Not in the world he ever thought of seeing her there. Let alone seeing her injured.

"Situations. Why... are you here?" Pearl unhurriedly asked.

If he was shocked then she was too. The coincidence made her feel thankful a lot, but still it was shocking too. His or Rishi's arrival was something she could only dream of at that time. But one of them came true.

Ignoring her question, he ordered. "Press every part of your body."

"Sorry?" Leaning back to her seat fully, she looked at him doubtfully with her sleepy eyes.

"Press it." He said again.

Pearl looked back to her front and pressed little by little on her shoulder.

Emmett saw her action. It was too weak and useless. "Do it hard."

"I want to sleep." She complained.

"You have a concussion." He asserted.

Pearl nodded with her eyes. Her exhaustion didn't even allow her to move her head or neck uselessly. "I know." She utter.

He switched on the courtesy light and checked all visible wounds. Couldn't guess much about her internal injury he asked. "How much are you hurt?"

"... Old wounds got reopened.... Pain here and there. So let me sleep."

"The one you got in your last car accident?" He asked.

"Hmm." Pearl affirmed unconsciously. Because of her wounds she didn't notice anything.

"Okay, at least press your chest." To his demand, Pearl pressed hard on her chest. Fortunately, she didn't feel any pain.

"All good. I just have a mild concussion." She affirmed.

"Let me check that for you." Saying that he started pressing her left hand first.

"Does it hurt?"

"No." Taking her other hand he did the same.

"Ouch." Pearl cried in pain.

"You hurt your right elbow." He noted.

"Hmm." She hummed in reply. She can tell by the pain that it's not much, but the pain on her bone is a little bit.

"Let me check your legs." He started pressing both of her knees to inspect. Getting no answer, he pressed her shoulder to check too. Emmett's hands were around her shoulder from the back.

While he checked on her, his concern for her, made Pearl more relaxed. She somehow felt secure. Pearl unknowingly leaned to his arm to rest. She had no strength in her neck to support herself.

Licking her lower lips she said. "Don't ask me any more questions, Senior. Let me sleep."

"..."

Emmett quietly looked down to her for a while, as he holds her by her shoulder and arm to keep her at her place.

"You are losing yourself? Are you hurt? What happened?" He anxiously held her tightly.

Pearl chuckled hearing another row of questions by him. Getting all his support, she shook her head in denial. "I am just sleepy. Let me sleep."

"Idiot you shouldn't sleep. Try to stay awake." However Pearl gave no heed to his request. She already closed her eyes with ease.

Seeing her closed eyes Emmett couldn't help but yell. "Drive fast!"

Seeing Pearl on a hospital bed, he was all restless. His brows frown with displeasure. Walking towards the bed he covered her with the blanket.

"How is she?" Emmett asked their emergency doctor.

The doctor once again checked the report and IV drip of hers. Noticing no fault in anything he closed the file. "She is alright now."

"Her injuries?"

"It could have been bad, but fortunately, she saved herself from getting hurt on sensitive parts. Her concussion will affect her for the next few days. Her injury on her elbow will be better in a couple of weeks. We tested all of her tests. It's all good." The doctor confirmed everything.

As per Emmett orders, they did a full-body check-up on Pearl. As there was no sign of internal injuries they were pretty quick.

Emmett sighed in relief. Tucking Pearl under a blanket he held her shoulder to carry her. However, remembering her wounds he asked cautiously. "Can I take her back home?"

Chief doctors immediately extended their hands in answer. "Yes. Sure." 'Please.' He said in his mind.

Since Emmett came in with Pearl, they had nothing but headaches. They couldn't tell if they were the doctors or he was the one. Let alone they can't even count the number of times they took orders from him. Couldn't tell the numbers of tests they were ordered by him. They were very grateful that Pearl had no major injury or they had to suffer more than this.

***

After half an hour...

Pearl's brows scrunched a little as she opened her eyes. Her eyes instantly open wide as she finds herself in a strange environment.

Her back straightened up. Looking around the car she saw Emmett sitting beside her. Remembering everything, she took a relieved breath.

"Where am I?" She asked.

"Sleep. I'll take you back."

To his words, she leaned back to her seat in a comfortable position. "All good?"

He nodded. "Hmm."

She yawned a little and said nothing more.

After another ten minutes, they reached the Mallaya mansion. While they were parking their car, both Pearl and Emmett saw an unknown car parked outside the mansion.

"Whose car is this?" He asked. The timing was not right. It's too late to visit someone. And then again, except for him and Mrs. Mallaya, no one will visit Pearl here.

"... I don't know."

She doubtfully looked outside the window. She remembers her car's number. And this matches to no one.

Emmett's eyes narrowed. Sucking his teeth once, he finally remembered. "It's your brother."

"What brother?" Pearl looked muddled.

"How many brothers do you have?" He asked back.

Pearl licked her lower lips and said nothing in reply.

Emmett looked at the black BMW again. He remembered that family very well. Knowing that only her brother, who knows her identity, unlike other family members, would come to meet her, he said with surety.

Pearl looked beside her. Watching Emmett calling numbers to confirm the identity, she waited for him to finish the call before asking. "Why?"

He turned and looked at her with a funny smile. "How would I know? I just know that this car belongs to Sen's. And from that useless family of yours, only your brother would come to visit you."

"Excuse me?"

"You are excused. Now get off."

Unbuckling his and her's seat belt he beckoned her to step out of the car. Pearl opened her car door before slowly getting out of it. Because of the wound she still feels dizzy and prefers to not hasten her movements.

Emmett walked around the car. Standing beside her he was about to carry her again when Pearl tapped back and raised her palm to stop him. "I can walk Senior."
