Chapter 16

“Where am I?” I thought to myself as I found myself an unfamiliar place it was a dream but it feels so real to me. I was in some kind of forest, heard the sound of a waterfall close by , I was about to move towards the sound when I heard a might voice out of nowhere say “ COME FIND ME, FOR I HAVE SEEN THAT YOU ARE TRULY WORTHY OF BEING THE HEIR” after hearing that I was suddenly sucked in by the darkness before I could even register what was happening.

I could feel a pain in my chest, it was like my heart was being consumed by fire but after I opened my eyes it was gone. It was morning already and I was in my room, what was the meaning of that and who was telling me to find them, I should ask father maybe he would know about this so I called on Zoe and told her to get me ready to meet father.

After getting dressed I head straight to father’s office to talk to him about the incident and the dream I had. Getting to the office I was about to knock on the door when Oliver opened the door, he smiled and greeted me then he patted my head and left. I always thought he was a strange old man, I went inside the office and I saw father sitting at him desk looking at a bunch of papers, I greeted him good morning then on seeing me he stood up and came over to me then picked me up before walking over to the couch where he sat down and placed me on his lap.

It was an embarrassing position but I couldn’t do anything about it seeing as he looked at me waiting for me to explain myself. “Father I’m sorry for the trouble I caused, it was just that I thought those men looked suspicion and if I didn’t go there those children would have been in danger so I-“ father caught me by surprise when he suddenly hugged me cutting me off.

“Adonis don’t do that again do you know what we went through thinking something bad happened to you again, we already lost you before so don’t scare us like that again please. Selena and I thought we would never see you again so promise me that you wouldn’t do something so dangerous again”.

I was surprised he didn’t scold me but how can I promise that when I know that something more dangerous might happen in the future. “I promise father and I’m sorry for causing you mother to worry.” I can only say this for now so they don’t worry anymore.

“That’s good thank you, we are also looking into those men and their objective behind kidnapping the children but they won’t speak no matter what we do but I’m still looking into it and tomorrow I will have to meet the king and discuss the matter with him” father only talked about the bandit what about the priests.

“Father are the bandits and children the only people you found there?” hopefully he caught the priests because they were the only connection I have to the Zion temple.

"No apart from the bandits and children there was no one, oh except for the beast man who claims to have saved your life” that’s odd then what happened to the priests how did they just disappear.

“Father about the beast man were is he, I would like to thank him for saving my life and I also have something to tell you father” I need to see that snake and ask him about the priests. “He is in one of the rooms in the servants quarter, since he saved you I didn’t do anything to harm him yet but I’m keeping an eye on him, so what did you say you had to tell me son”.

“Well father I had a strange dream, I was in a forest it was beautiful and peaceful but as I was about to look around I heard a loud voice saying something about me being a worthy heir.” As I finished father looked worried and it made me worry as well wondering what the dream meant.

Father let out a long sigh before looking at me and said “ Son that dream means it’s time for you to go and find your guardian animal, let me explain we are different from other families, others inherit their guardian animal but we have to find ours and if we are chosen we will get a call just like the one you received”.

So that means I can get more power from the dragon if we make a pact, I’ve read about this and if I make a pact with this dragon I can receive a vast amount of Mana and also gain it’s ability. “ But now is not the right time for that because it’s a very dangerous mission and you have to take your knights with you and now that commander Philip says he wants to resign I don’t know what do about it”.

What why is he resigning, it can’t be because of what happened. I have to take the responsibility of stopping him if that the case so tell father “ I have to talk to sir Philip maybe I can convince him to stay because it might be my fault he wants to leave” I know that he might not be as strong as others but I know he has worked hard to get where he is now.

Father let’s me down and gives me permission to go to the knights quarters, I leave after thanking father and head straight to knights quarters so I can get there before he leaves.

“Don’t leave captain please we don’t know what we’ll do without you” I heard Blake saying that so I rushed over quickly and saw sir Philip about to leave but everyone surrounded him trying to stop him even the indifferent Andrew was trying to stop him.

I went over to them and seeing me they all have way for me “ help us young master, captain wants to leave” Blair was the one who first spoke up as I arrived. “I’m sorry young master I have failed my duty as a knight and is not fitted to serve you” I know people like him very well they blame their selves for everything and try to take responsibility for what they think is their fault.

“Sir Philip please listen to me it’s not your fault for what happened I saw you and I know you did your best and I don’t blame you for anything so don’t leave, I know you put all your hard work into this squad and without you who do you think can lead them and you may think that they would do better even if you leave but you’re the backbone of this squad and if you leave I would hold myself responsible for it” I was serious about it and I’m sure he knows it.

“ Please young master I would never hold you responsible for this so please don’t, I won’t leave and I’m glad you see me as someone valuable to you” everyone was glad and did a small celebration hugging each other, happy their captain didn’t leave and thanking me for making him stay.

“Thank goodness you didn’t leave captain, I don’t know what we would do now that the knights competition is coming up” Jake said to the captain. A competition sounds nice it might help me keep my mind off some stuff for now, I hope it goes smoothly and since I’m a competitive person I want to win this competition and show everyone what I’m made of.
