The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room as Nicole stirred awake. For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt rejuvenated, her body no longer weighed down by the mysterious illness that had plagued her. She stretched her arms and sat up, catching sight of Jasper seated at the edge of the bed, his piercing gaze already on her.
"Good morning," he said, his voice low but carrying a warmth that softened his usual sternness. He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "I was waiting for you to wake up. How do you feel?"
"Better," Nicole replied, a small smile gracing her lips. "Much better."
Jasper nodded, satisfaction evident in his expression. Standing, he extended his hand to her, helping her out of bed with an ease that belied his strength. "Good," he said. "You'll take a bath now. I've already prepared it for you."
