Kanza’s Heavy Burden

Jasper's boots crunched against the frost-laden earth as he journeyed through the outskirts of a ruined kingdom, his dark cloak billowing behind him. The once-great realm had long since been swallowed by time and decay, its name forgotten, its people scattered. Yet here, amidst the rubble and wilderness, was where Kanza had hidden himself.

It was Slade, Jasper's ever-loyal owl, who had found him. Perched silently on a nearby tree, the bird's keen eyes had pinpointed the man Jasper sought. Kanza, despite his years, had retained his youthful vigor, though his eyes betrayed the burden of time and responsibility.

A tribe of warriors stood behind Kanza, their spears leveled at Jasper, their bodies tense and ready for battle. Their leader, however, raised a hand, silently commanding them to lower their weapons. Kanza's gaze met Jasper's, his expression both wary and curious.
