"Should I tell you a joke, grandma?" Austin asked, trying to lighten the mood in the car, "Be quite Austin!" Grandma snapped at him.
"Yes, Ma'am." Austin became quiet, which made Jason laugh, "You too, Jason."
"Sorry." Jason apologized quickly, he was sitting beside her, they decided to let the driver do his job today, and Austin took the front seat, he didn't want to be in a situation like Jason was right now.
The tension in the car was thick, Jason and Austin were quite tensed, and grandma was sitting quietly, but it was clearly seen she was tensed.
"Don't worry grandma, it will be fine." Jason tried to assure her, but she shook her head and said, "No Jason, you don't understand, how can I face him after all these years, you know.... after your parents died, John came to meet me, but...."
Jason sighed as he took her hand in his, feeling bad for her, even if he didn't want to talk about his parents, he wished he could tell her that she doesn't need to feel guilty for the man who was the reason for their death.
"You know what I did, I didn't even let him enter in the house and told him to never come to us." Grandma Scarlett sniffed, as the memories of that day flashed in front of her eyes, filling her eyes with tears.
"Grandma! Trust me he won't have any kind of hard feelings for you, he respects you way too much." Jason planted a small kiss on her hand, he couldn't see the only family he has, crying because of a man like John.
"And you know grandma, you're going there, he doesn't even know, it's a surprise for him, we made sure Jake and Sarah doesn't tell him that you're coming with us." Jason smiled at her.
"Your father surely would be happy to see the way you're now." Grandma suddenly said, making everyone go silent, she regretted saying that as soon as the words left her mouth.
Jason just nodded and turned his head the other way, trying to control the sudden bust of anger, he hated to talk about his parents, whenever he hears about them the memories of that night come to haunt him.
"Jason we are about to reach," Austin informed him, it was more of a warning, he wanted to make sure Jason kept calm and doesn't get worked up.
The car stopped inside the mansion, "Grandma, everything thing will be fine." Jason assured her and all of them stepped down the car.
Soon they were greeted by Jake, "How are you grandma." He hugged her, after so many years, he was also grateful that she helped him to get his father out, Sarah joined him, she also embraced Grandma Scarlett,
Jason just stood beside grandma, "Hi guys, I can't possibly say that I'm happy to see you both!" Jake whispered to him, while Austin was busy talking on the phone.
"Bad luck, as you don't have any choice," Jason replied, "Jason, just tell me why you are here and what are you planning this time." Jake was frustrated, he knew Jason always has a reason for everything.
"It's good that you're still aware of how I'm after all these years," Jason was impressed, "By the way, where is your father?"
"He is waiting in you in the living room, but he isn't aware of grandma is visiting with you." Jake knew his father would surely Kill him after this, but he didn't have any option.
"Well....you did good and don't worry I won't tell grandma about what your father did." Jason uttered.
Jake clenched his jaw, he still didn't trust Jason, but he didn't want Jason to tell anything to grandma, if he did that, it was clear that she would trust him and not his father.
They entered inside, hoping to see an angry John but to his surprise, John was sitting on the couch with a hundred walt smile, reading a magazine.
"Dad, look who's here!" Sarah said excitedly, "Aunt Scarlett!" John was quite surprised as he dashed towards her, pushing Jason aside as he embraced her in a warm hug.
Jason stumbled behind but Austin held him, Jason was shocked would be an understatement, he knew John did that on purpose, which was very childish, Jason gritted his teeth and glared at Jake who was chuckling.
"I lost hope that you'll ever come to meet me." He said, still holding her hand.
"What an actor." Austin muttered, even Sarah and Jake were perplexed by their father's behavior.
"Hello Jason, Austin....how are you both doing." John inquired a smile on his face, Austin wanted to throw up, because how sweet he was being, it wasn't like John had done anything to him, but Austin knew his true colors, even his parents weren't aware of it.
"I'm completely fine uncle John." Austin said, but Jason kept quiet.
"Jason, he asked you something!" Grandma Scarlett said, looking at him with an upset face.
"I'm good."
"Come in Aunt, I have lot to share with you!" John took her to the couch, Sarah followed behind, but three of them were standing at their place.
"Your father never disappoints me, he always has something up his sleeves when it comes to fool people."
Jake signed and defended his father, "It's just you who thinks like that, he is behaving like this because he missed grandma."
Austin raised his hand and said, "Sorry, but I also think that way."
Jake just walked away from them, "He is still in denial." Jason agreed with Austin.
"Let's see, how is he going to fool them today!" Jason said.
"Jason, Austin why are you both standing there, come and sit with us." John called them.
Both of them, walked towards the couch, John insisted Jason to sit beside him, Jason didn't want to, but he couldn't deny John in front of grandma, so he sat beside him, while Austin sat beside grandma.
Everyone was busy talking to grandma, when John whispered something in Jason's ear, "Nice plan, but I'm still ahead of you."
