Samantha Chase walked back into her small desert store situated next to a park and not far from the Wimbleton restaurant. She moved her almost five years ago from her home country of Trinidad and Tobago to Atlanta to open this store. What many people didn't know about her is that she moved here to also flee an abusive relationship that she had been in for the past ten years. Now, she was thirty four years and the proprietor of her own bakery store which she worked and saved for years to bring this dream of hers into reality.
She was five feet eight inches and weighed about a hundred and fifty pounds. She was mixed with East Indian and African and her beauty drew the attention of all types of men so she was accustomed to the relentless pursuit.
Since Sam had migrated and moved to this new country, she concentrated on only opening her business so for a long time she hadn't been interested in men. However deep down she knew the real reason that she avoided men and relationships was because her last relationship had traumatized her significantly. In fact the damage done was to such an extent that she believed most men were scheming, controlling, ruthless, cold and narcissistic assholes by nature and women lived longer, healthy lives without them. And so Sam stayed away from men and the bullshit attached to it.
As she kneaded the flour on the table, her mind ran on the cunning Kyle, she had met a few days aback and used him as a good example of what she was referring too.
Immediately she began laughing to herself at the way they met! A prime example as she drew reference to him being a conniving trickster most men were. Kyle was about six feet , very handsome and his neatly tailored suit only enabled his charming smile and chiseled body.
He had blue eyes and black hair and his smile could make most women instantly want to fuck him. Sam was not one of those women though because from the instant she laid eyes in him she knew he screamed trouble.
If she didn't already sensed he was most likely in a relationship, she may have thought about having him as her casual sex buddy and given him her name and took his number. But then again, it was the pleasurable feeling in her last relationship that had her fleeing her home country several years ago.
Sam could not go through that again and so she decided that it was a good decision to walk away. And in Kyle's case, run far away.
Sam? Sam? came the soft voice of her Assistant that came to the backroom to meet her as she took out her batch of muffins.
Hey Gracie, good morning! Sam said in a chipper tone
Hey Sam, I was looking for you to let you know that we got the contract at the Wimbleton to cater for the Stephens and Craigs Engagement party on September 24th. The parents of the couple requested a large cake as well as two hundred engagement cupcakes consisting of chocolate, blue berry and chocolate chip flavors decorated in gold and black to match their colour scheme. Grace said happily.
Great. See eating ever so often at the Wimbleton and interacting with the staff does pay off! Remind me to send a specialize cake to thank them okay! Sam said laughing
Yes indeed it does! Grace replied smiling
Gracie I'm stepping out for lunch in a bit so can you assist Tracy if the place become too busy? She's still moves a little slow with the cash register. Sam asked softly
Off course Sam! Not a problem at all. Grace said as she walked back to the front.
Sam didn't have much friends since she moved here. In fact Sam wanted it that way. Having friends meant drama and that's what she didn't want in her life. She felt she needed a new start without complications and wasn't going to let anyone take that away knowing fully well that she had to start back all over again to achieve that.
Thanks Grace…I'll be back in a bit. Sam said as she grabbed her purse and walked to the door and put her coat on. She arrived ten minutes later at the restaurant, ordered her usual and sat down and got her book out. This was Sam's way of keeping men or any unwanted visitors away. And even though it wasn't a full proof plan, most of the time it worked very well.
